500 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a fairly full light mocha head. Aroma: Light to moderate roasted malt, fairly clean, a bit of boiled cereal, no hop aroma to speak of. Palate: Medium body, moderate+ carbonation. Flav.: Light to moderate roasted notes, clean, a bit of wet cardboard; dry with medium-low bitterness and a clean, roasted finish.

Probably a bit nicer fresh. Certainly a clean lager with apparent roasted malts.

500ml bottle. Pours almost black with a mocha coloured head. On the nose, lots of roasted malt notes, light cocoa, faint dark roast coffee, and a bit of straw. Taste wise, raisin, cocoa, a very faint note of tartness, dark roast coffee and darker malts that heads into lots of dry roasty malt notes, more of the coffee, with light bitterness in the long finish. A total pleasant surprise, and for what it cost, it’s a bargain. Thumbs up!

Aroma of roasted caramel, some dark malts and something sour. Dark, but not black, medium beige head, some lacing. Correctly. Taste is dry, grilled bread, maybe coffee. Roastiness bitter, but on the medium level or even below. Quite watery, easy to drink. Medium body and low sweetness. For me, very similar to german Schwarzbier. A good dark lager, but I’ve drunk better.

Opaque black with a mid sized beige head that retains itself for quite some time. Pleasant pungence consisting of mild roast, dark chocolate, caramel and malt. Light bodied and bubbly. Appeasing flavour containing smoke, roast, chocolate, and malt, with a slight hop and smoke present in the finish. Emphatically smokey and rather nice.

Cobre-oscuro casi negro con tintes granates, limpia. Espuma con buena persistencia, de color canela. Aroma a maltas tostadas, nuez, chocolate, café y ligeras notas a frutos negros, lúpulo moderado-bajo especiado. Maltosa rica en productos de Maillard, notas a café y algo de regaliz. Bien balanceada. De cuerpo y carbonatacion media.

Bottle - Dark toasty malts with some cocoa. Deep brown with a rich beige head. Dark and sweet malty molasses. Long finish. Tons of brown sugar and molasses.

Appearance: clear deep brown with one finger of loose ivory head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: toasted malt, caramel, chocolate, slightly smoky. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, mild bitter. (7/10) Medium body, lively to moderate carbonation, medium duration off-dry mildly bitter finish. (3/5) Gotta say, this is actually quite decent. Refreshing and relatively light despite its dark appearance. Worth trying. (14/20)

500ml Bottle. Pours a very dark reddish amber (but not hazy) with a thin brown head. Aroma of malt, notes of caramel and chocolate. Light but continuous carbonation. Taste is malty, but not sweet. Notes of coffee, a bit roasty. Light hop notes, kind of saaz-like. Moderate mouthfeel. Finish is bitter, with more saaz notes, some herbs, a bit earthy. Overall pretty decent for a Dunkel, basic but a good example of the style.

Zdecydowanie gorsze od jasnego Budweisera. Ciemno-brunatna barwa, w smaku lekka goryczka, chlebowość, typowy dunkel.
