2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Decent enough lager, clean, crisp, dry and nicely bitter. But paled in comparison to other lagers and pilsners in Prague, especially those on draught.

Very dark brown. Not a lot of aroma, but good malts though in the mouth flavour with some burntness and coffee. Not a bad dunkel with a lasting coffee finish. 3.1 Re-rate bottle at home during the Budvar tasting. Good malt and good choc.

Bottle. A clear, dark brown beer with a beige head. Slightly oxidizied aroma with a little touch of smoke. Sure on the malty side, could use a little more balance, but quite good. The flavor is on the other hand a bit boring, roasted and malty, lacking on the hops and bitterness. Coffee-like finish. Medium body with a decent carbonation level. Except for the "dark" part, the beer is quite boring. Easy to drink though. (080620)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark nut brown, small brown head. Aroma has fruits: flowery hops, trefoil, menthol and hints of roast. Refrshing with flowery hops. Oily hoppy and chocolaty aftertaste. Much better than "normal" Budvar.
