Prémiový tmavý ležák doplňuje tradiční nabídku piva z pivovaru Budějovický Budvar, n. p. od roku 2004. Je vyroben stejným postupem jako originální světlý ležák, za použití nejvybranějšího žateckého chmele, moravského sladu, vody čerpané ze 300 m hlubokých artéských studní a tří druhů speciálních barevných ječných sladů: mnichovského, karamelového a praženého.

Charakterizuje jej výrazně tmavá barva, suchá, jemně hořká karamelová chuť bez dominance sladkosti. Vůně je delikátní po praženém sladu.

Secondo me in bottiglia perde molto (come la sua versione chiara) perň era tutto sommato potabile

Kjřpt pĺ Meny. Mřrk i fargen, lite skum. Aromaen er litt anonym, vag kaffe, malt, vag třrket frukt og mild humle. Smaken er malt, humle og en veldig vag smak av kaffe. Minner om en veldig tynn porter. Behagelig. Tynn konsistens.

Malt heavy lager, that must be a pale imitation of the original budvar version.

0.5 bottle. Black color and a small, off-white head. Aroma of dark malts, coffee, and a delicate note of toast. Taste of caramel, again coffee, and dark chocolate; relatively bitter due to all that. Medium body, slick texture, and lively carbonation. Finish is even more coffee-like than the rest. Overall, not a bad beer given its commercial provenance.

Pours deep red with a big fizzy light brown head which lasts a good while. Aroma is lager malts, light roastiness, caramel, hints of dark fruit and berries and a bit of corn. Taste is slightly sweet and roasty followed by some malts and flowers. Nicely sweet with a light bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation.

Bottle. Dark brown, almost black colour with small light brown head, that goes into lace quickly. Aroma of chocolate, cookies, caramel, dark fruits. Taste is light sweet with honey notes and it turns into moderate bitter aftertaste.

Bottle from Booths, Knutsford. Not being a massive fan of Budvar beers (IMO vastly over-rated) I thought i’d give this a go to see if they could make a decent go of it. Admittedly it’s better than the lacklustre 12 or the bland 10 but it’s not a patch on beers like Herold or Zubr. A good roasty, caramel and malty aroma is followed by a dryish, toasty, slightly chocolatey and roasted flavour with a subtle bitterness in the malty, burnt finish. Overall a little too understated for me but it’s not a bad beer by any stretch.
