500ml bottle. Deep mahogany body with a big mocha head, small bubbles and good retention, but not much lacing. Aroma is hoppy, some burned caramel, coffee and vanilla. Flavour of lots of coffee, malt bitterness and yes, hops. No sweetness and low carbonation. Good, but was expecting more.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2011 Dark brown colour on the looks with beige head. Malty nose, far hints of caramel. Round roasted malty flavour, some chocolate notes there too. Light sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, oily feel, average carbonation. Medium lasting after taste with that malty and light sweet-bitter touch Very good beer.

50cl can. As good as a bottle. Pours pitch black with porter-like head. Creamy, smooth, velvety and silky. Pleasant carbonation. Slightly sweet. Loads of charred malt, caramel and some coco hints. I prefer it served at 8degC. Usually, when shopping, I forget how good it is, and get some other dunkels. This is actually almost perfect.

vickey9 (551) - Brussels, BELGIUM - JAN 6, 2012
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2012 Deep brown topped by a light creamy head. The nose is rich and toasty with a caramel, vanilla and chocolate notes including roasted malt aroma. It gives a bitter taste with spicy and herbal flavour. Body is medium, carbon high. Coffee and chocolate with dark fruits palate. Bitter aftertaste. B@H

This is the first dark Czech beer I’ve tried; it is markedly different from any German dark beers I’ve had, more so than the Czech pilsners differ from German ones. Very dry, wit roast strongly evident in the aroma, but the roast has little "burnt" quality, it’s more toasty, which I like. Not as hoppy as I’d like, and I think much less hoppy than the standard Budvar. Very little sweetness. Moderate body. I strongly prefer the regular Budvar, because of its happiness and bitterness. But this could be good for a change of pace, and I do prefer it to a number of other dark beers.

500ml bottle. Deep brown color with thick burned head. Aroma is toasted bread and malts, some brown sugar sweetness and fruit. I can feel some of bitter chocolade. It’s very smooth with sharp finish. Medium body and drinkable. Very solid dark lager.

Good dark colour. Aroma has some light roast but also spicy hop and a slight caramel, burnt caramel note. The mouthfeel is medium, more full than the regular pilsner as you would expect. There is a good malt flavour with a light roast edge that makes it interesting. Overall I quite enjoyed this beer and great euro dark lager.

Pours deep red with a big fizzy light brown head which lasts a good while. Aroma is lager malts, light roastiness, caramel, hints of dark fruit and berries and a bit of corn. Taste is slightly sweet and roasty followed by some malts and flowers. Nicely sweet with a light bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation.

0.5L bottle. Usual caramel hop aroma, very delicate smoke shines. Taste is sour smoked and cooked vegetables with little caramel. Finish is stupid bitter herbs water. Waterly finish spoils it all. Nothing special.
