Bottle 500ml. Great, well balanced dunkel. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, and coffee. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness. Palate is oily, with a thin-to-medium body. Dark brown with a frothy head.

Farblich ist es sehr dunkelbraun, die Schaumkrone hält leider nur mittelmäßig, Es riecht intensiv lakritzig-süß und kaffeeartig und schmeckt schön röstig und etwas kaffeeartig, dabei ist es sehr süffig. Sehr leckeres Bier das einem Stout ähnelt und für den Alltag geeignet ist. Das werde ich mir in Zukunft häufiger holen. Wieder eine schöne Kreation von Budweiser!

Sehr würziger Geruch mit deutlichem Karamalmalz Ton. Leichtsüßer Antrunk, der direkt von einem leicht bitteren Aroma verdrängt wird. Auch beim malzigen Teil des Bieres ist eine übergeordnete Bitterkeit vorhanden. Schom im Mittelteil kommt eine Hopfigkeit dazu, die aber nicht besonders stark erscheint, genau wie das ganze Bier. Das soll nicht heißen, es wäre ein wirklich mildes Bier, aber wirklich kräftig ist es nicht. Süffiges Bier mit ansprechender röstmalzigen Note.

Bottle from Oddbins. Pours dark brown with beige head that quickly dissipates. Roasted malt predominates in the nose but reveals nice hop characteristics (Saaz) on closer inspection. The initial hit is of roast malts eventually being balanced by a hint of sweetness. Long hoppy finish. Despite its appearance and the use of stout-type malts the end result is surprisingly light. Fantastic stuff and, if you can find it, the cask version is even better.

Just called Budvar Dark in the bar I sampled this one in. Based on taste, I’m assuming this is the same beer. Poured out black with a big white creamy head. Smelled of pepper, nuts and has some floral notes. Tasted of caramel and chocolate with some bitter citrussy notes. Peppery finish.

UPDATED: AUG 14, 2007 Deep Brown, Nice and balanced malty and fruity. With a heavy fruit front and a long finnish thats a little bitter (better in cask ,scored cask)

Dem super-dunklen Dark Lager entsrömt ein schwer malzig-röstiger Geruch, stout-artig.
Der Geschmack ist kaffeeartig-karamellig, wobei sich die Herbe dezent im Hintergrund hält.
Ein trockenes Finish bildet den Abschluß.
Das Dark Lager von Budweiser Budvar bedarf einer gewissen Eingewöhnung, die sich aber lohnt. Ein ausgewogenes, leckeres Bier, das durch seinen sahnigen Körper zu gefallen weiß.
