COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer is brewed by Daniel Westmoreland from the Williamsburg, Va. brewery and was developed in collaboration with brewmasters Mike Anderson in Jacksonville, Fla. and Dan Kahn in Cartersville, Ga. “We took staves from fresh bourbon barrels and we aged the beer on those staves and spiced it with a hint of vanilla,” said Westmoreland, who has been a Budweiser brewmaster for more than 30 years. “It’s an all-malt brew, and it has a perfect color that is similar to the color of bourbon itself. Batch No. 23185 has a nice vanilla aroma with a little oakiness on the end – it’s a great beer.”

Pours a golden color, a little light for an amber, albeit a light amber. Subtle hints of vanilla and oakiness add to the flavor but still somewhat bland.

Its dark gold, clear, little head, and it ain’t no where as good as Winter Bourbon Cask Ale! What a waste of time this one is. Anheuser-Bush once had my all time favorite winter beer. They no longer make it and instead decided to take the bourbon cask and vanilla idea and dump Budweiser in it. Come on this is not as thick or nearly as vanilla flavored and is actually not very good. Instead of waisting time on this Anheuser-Bush should consider bringing back Winter Bourbon Cask Ale.

12oz bottle 11/13/12 12pk (Dominicks)-44° in Lager Glass-Pours a medium golden with a small white ring for a head. Aroma of malt and vanilla. Taste of vanilla, oak, malt, and slight bourbon. This medium bodied brew is by far the best of the three but I wish they would of made it a bit stronger.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2013 Amber pour with a 3 finger, frothy off white head. Aroma of vanilla, corny cereal and a light metallic note. Some vanilla in the flavor, corn cereal, sweet corn light vegetal notes. Light body with a creamy entry, slick finish and moderate carbonation. Better than I expected, but still not very good.

Heavy sweet vanilla aroma a little too synthetic. Nice amber color....very clean in the glass. Very light body, sweet malt flavors, with oak and vanilla notes that intensify with finish. Finishes with mild bitter end. Left desiring a little more complexity but not bad.

12oz bottle from 12pk mixer .. . damn, basic is the word .. . really good foam .. . hardly any complexities here- almost no barrel/vanilla at all .. . expected a lot more but not at all surprised .. an annoying beer .. . .
The crisis? Charlie Bludorn’s birthday. The solution? A snappy banner. Out comes the phone, in flies Bobby Towne, and six drafts later, I had myself a party.

You see? Gibberish, all gibberish.

Bottle: Poured a golden color with a golden to light copper color with a fast dissipating white head. Aroma is buttery and bubblegum. Taste is a watery malt with not much to it.

12 oz bottle from the variety pack. Pours clear copper with a diminishing off-white head. Aroma consists of faint wood, faint vanilla. Taste is very vanilla, savory with a dry finish. It’s watery, like all three beers in the pack. Mouthfeel is creamy, body is thin, and the carbonation is average. This is by far the most out-there and interesting beer of the three, and by far the best. It tastes good, but how much better would it have been with a bigger body?

The rather faint aroma of vanilla is even more subtle in tasting. The bourbon stakes have too little influence for me to notice. This tastes too much like a regular, but notably more malty, Budweiser and not enough like a special small batch craft brew. Still, flawless execution of rather lame recipe.

Pours a light translucent amber with a small white ring. Aroma of sweet malts and hints of vanilla. Taste like bud. A little banana and some vanilla added. Pretty much what I expected. A little bit of nothing.
