The beer is brewed by Daniel Westmoreland from the Williamsburg, Va. brewery and was developed in collaboration with brewmasters Mike Anderson in Jacksonville, Fla. and Dan Kahn in Cartersville, Ga. “We took staves from fresh bourbon barrels and we aged the beer on those staves and spiced it with a hint of vanilla,” said Westmoreland, who has been a Budweiser brewmaster for more than 30 years. “It’s an all-malt brew, and it has a perfect color that is similar to the color of bourbon itself. Batch No. 23185 has a nice vanilla aroma with a little oakiness on the end – it’s a great beer.”

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2012 The aroma is a tad grainy with some sweet caramel and bread. The hops are herbal. The appearance is deep gold with a slight soda appearance but does not seem very dark or amber. The taste is like the aroma with an off putting mineral quality. The palate is thin. Overall not much to like here. Thanks to Palidor for the rating anyway!

A light flavor, with a slight background of vanilla. Focus on the light crisp flavor instead of rich ale flavors. Still it's very drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasted from 12oz twist-off bottle into a Willibecher glass. It poured a light orangish-amber color with chill haze and some fluffy, lasting foam. Aromas of candy, grains, grass, faint green apple and even fainter flowery hops, all very synthetic and metallic. Same goes for the taste, a familiar mass-produced Budweiser plus some vague caramel, vanilla, and woody tannins. Light body, high carbonation, unpleasant residual sweetness, it worsened as it warmed. I’d gladly report a good beer from this brewery, but even with their special releases, they can’t seem to keep from making crap.

Lager glass. Clear gold with minimal head. Strong odor of alcohol with a thin dough smell. The alcohol content isn’t that high but it had a slight burning top the taste, also a bit of a dough taste. Thin mouth feel. Finishes clean. I actually prefer regular Budweiser to this.

Doughy, sweet, slightly molasses aroma. Bright, pinky-red-gold. Clear. Standard, twist-off 12 oz. longneck. Purely functional label. Tangy, lightly astringent, a faint candied-ness, a little tannic maybe. Slippery mouthfeel, crisp carbo, medium body. Finishes off with German hops and faint vanilla. Decent. As with its mixpack brethren, this is a good BBQ/food/ingredeient beer. ABC, Bull Run.

Dark gold color with a fizzy, off white head. I actually picked up some very faint aromas of bourbon and vanilla that cover up the grainy corn. Initial flavor is skunky, macro swill but it does mellow out with a soft malt and oak-ish finish. Well carbonated with a somewhat dry texture. Nothing worth seeking out, but easily the best of the sampler pack.

Bottle. Pours a slightly dark brown color with thin head that fades quickly/ Smell and taste is slightly sweet and bready but pretty watered down for the masses. Decent for Bud.

Bottle from Walmart. Light golden/amber in color. Somewhat sweet grainy nose. Light flavors of grain and vanilla. Drinkable but lacking in flavor.

Bottle. Poured dark amber with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted grainy malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable beer.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain, husks), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of vanilla and wood, light note of DMS. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation. Easily the best of the three in this series so far. I mean, yeah, it’s still grainy and silly (the vanilla) and poorly made, but compared to the other two atrocities, this is actually drinkable.
