3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bhensonb (8991) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 5, 2012
Bottle from a Grocery Outlet. Pours clear amber with a transient off-white head. Aroma is hints of bourbon with some vanilla. Near med body. Flavor is light caramel with some vanilla. With time there’s hints of bourbon and some oaky astringency. Makes me think of Innis & Gunn. This is a pretty nice little beer.

Bottle from Wegman’s Collegeville. Pours deep caramel with minimal off-white head and a lot of carbonation. Nose is Yuenglingy. Tastes like liquid Wheaties, with mild hops. This is a Yuengling light clone.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Drake (6491) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - NOV 25, 2012
Bottle from Total Wine West Richmond, VA. Pours a clear amber color with a large foamy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of grainy malts and the mildest oak you can imagine. The taste is grainy malts, vanilla, faint whisky and faint bourbon. Grassy hops. Thin-medium bodied. Bland and weak, but not bad.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 adnielsen (6187) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAY 1, 2013
Bottle @ home picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a dark golden orange appearance with a big foamy, off white head. Creamy, a bit corny, lemon, light vanilla aroma. A bit tangy, a bit strong, fairly smooth woody, grainy, pale malty, vanilla flavor. Not a ton from the oak (nothing bourbon that I can detect) but a pretty decent brew. I can see myself getting WBW on this in Iowa City.

Bottle. Sweet artificial cherry and vanilla malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Very light sweet barley malt and vanilla flavor. Medium body. Not a fan of the aroma and not much in the flavor department - I’m shocked.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ernest (5623) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 10, 2012
Bottle.
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain, husks), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of vanilla and wood, light note of DMS.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly husky.
Medium body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation.
Easily the best of the three in this series so far. I mean, yeah, it’s still grainy and silly (the vanilla) and poorly made, but compared to the other two atrocities, this is actually drinkable.
