COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer is brewed by Daniel Westmoreland from the Williamsburg, Va. brewery and was developed in collaboration with brewmasters Mike Anderson in Jacksonville, Fla. and Dan Kahn in Cartersville, Ga. “We took staves from fresh bourbon barrels and we aged the beer on those staves and spiced it with a hint of vanilla,” said Westmoreland, who has been a Budweiser brewmaster for more than 30 years. “It’s an all-malt brew, and it has a perfect color that is similar to the color of bourbon itself. Batch No. 23185 has a nice vanilla aroma with a little oakiness on the end – it’s a great beer.”

Budweiser Batch No. 23185 has a thick, foamy, off-white head, lots of splotchy lacing left on the glass, and a clear, yellow appearance, with red highlights. The aroma is subdued, but one can pick up some spicy, white bread and sweetness. Flavor is of white bread, fruit, vanilla, wood, and there is a slight hop bite at the end. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Budweiser Batch No. 23185 finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and dry. Overall, this an interesting beer, and I think one should check it out. RJT

Pours with a small head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing. Aroma of vanilla and citrus. Flavor is excellent - mild vanilla. Aftertaste is metallic.and caused me to.downgrade a few notches.

Light amber color. Reminds me of micolobe’s winter bourbon cask. But it’s lighter. sweet with a slight bourbon flavor. This is also lighter than Kentucky bourbon barrel beer. Tasted on 12/7/2013.

Transfer from BA review on 3-1-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – Pours a nice golden amber color with a big and billowy white head of ~ 2 fingers. The head has a decent level of retention slowly fading over time to leave a light lace on the sides of the glass. Smell- The aroma of sweet caramel and vanilla with notes of a breadiness. Some lighter toffee like aromas as well as a light bourbon smell complement the other quite well producing a not too overpowering but balanced and sweeter aroma. Taste – The taste begins with caramel and malt with hints of vanilla mixed within. The caramel flavor grow stronger more toward the middle and are joined by a light bourbon taste. From there the caramel starts to fade, but is replaced by more vanilla and toffee sweetness with a increase in the bourbon flavors and a very light oaky taste. In the end a very pleasant sweet vanilla and oaky bourbon taste are left on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is on the average to just below average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average to just above average side. It is actually quite a nice feel for the sweeter flavors of vanilla and make it quite drinkable and enjoyable. Overall- Now this is what Budweiser should have gone with. It is quite flavorful, not overly sweet and has great flavor transitions and a good feel. Too bad this one is temporary as it is an affordable domestic that competes with may good crafts in terms of flavor and enjoyment.

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2013 Pours gold with a slightly off white head. The nose is slight vanilla. The palate is slight malty sweetness with a hint of vanilla and whisky. It is a highly attenuated Winter Bourbon Cask Ale with lager crispness.

This is decent. A very light flavor of bourbon, slightly more of vanilla. Very smooth in the finish and easy to drink. Good.

Bottle from a Grocery Outlet. Pours clear amber with a transient off-white head. Aroma is hints of bourbon with some vanilla. Near med body. Flavor is light caramel with some vanilla. With time there’s hints of bourbon and some oaky astringency. Makes me think of Innis & Gunn. This is a pretty nice little beer.

Pours a golden color, a little light for an amber, albeit a light amber. Subtle hints of vanilla and oakiness add to the flavor but still somewhat bland.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle marked 12276-WA24. The pour is golden in color with a soft head that settles down momentarily and plenty of upward carbonation. The aroma has a hint of vanilla as advertised but not a lot in the way of bourbon. The body is smooth and medium. The taste is incredibly sweet and slightly bready with a quickly finishing crisp hoppiness. Don’t let the name Budweiser sway you. Try it blindly.

Pours a clear light copper body with a small fizzy white head that vanishes pretty quickly. The nose is pretty light, just some caramel sweetness and a little toasted malt. There might be a touch of wood, but it’s a stretch. The flavor is pretty similar to the other, caramel sweetness and not a whole lot else. No wood, bourbon or vanilla to speak of. Some light vanilla did emerge as it got closer to room temp. It’s pretty clean and well lagared though, very smooth and pretty crisp on the finish. Medium bodied, fairly thick in texture for the style really. Nice soft fizzy carbonation cuts thru the heaviness well. Overall this is pretty decent on its own. Fares much worse when in context of what they say they are going to give you though. Very drinkable though.
