COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer was first brewed in St. Louis by brewmaster Jim Bicklein and was developed in collaboration with brewmaster Katie Rippel from Fort Collins, Colo. ďThe original Budweiser brewery is, of course, here in St. Louis, so we wanted to honor our brewing heritage with a beer that uses ingredients that German immigrants, like our founder Adolphus Busch, would have used when they came to the United States,Ē Bicklein said. ďIn this pilsner we use the same types of Hallertau and Tettnang hops commonly used in St. Louis during the late 1800s.Ē

Lightly sweet, but mostly dry pilslager malt aroma - doughy. Stock US twist-off longneck, bright, deep gold, thin filmy head. Some mineral flavors, a bit tangy, mild hopping, modestly sweet. A somewhat chewy mouthfeel, frothy and effervescent without being too spritzy. That said, the finish is a bit tonic/soda water in nature and biscuity. It occurs to me that this would be an excellent brew for making seafood beer batter - not overpowering, a bit fizzy, neutral yeasting. Part of the Brewmastersí Project 12 special mixpack.

Golden pour with a fizzy white head. Skunky, macro aroma. Bitter, corn flavor from start to finish. Average carbonation with a semi-creamy texture. Normally this would be ok and refreshing, but not for the price you have to shell out for this 12 pack!

bottle thanks to the one and only bman1113vr interesting lesson of history on that side of the bottle but that surely does not make up for this beers lackluster performance. i was wanting to try some batch 12 stuff anyways so thank you to bman1113vr, my best friend for hooking this up

Bottle. Sweet corn syrupy malt aroma. Clear gold with a large white head. Sweet corn syrup malt flavor with a slight hay finish. Body on the lighter side of medium, moderate carbonation. Could be a heck of a lot worse.

Bottle. Bright yellow, almost the same color as the label coloring. Budweiserís head. Light Bohemian aroma. Drinks with a musty, biscuity base, but is topped with a little bit of a Teutonic bitterness. Not bad, actually. (#4853, 12/9/2012)

Bottle. Poured clear amber color with an average white frothy head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate floral hop and sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations were met by a soft drinkable beer from a soft style.

Pours a pale yellow with a nice small well retained head and some spotty lacing on the glass.

The aroma is doughy, herbal, a little metallic, and sort of faint.

The flavor is sort of spot on as far as what the basic idea of Bland, Unoffensive, American Pilsener ought to be like... or at least in my head. There is no mistaking that this hardly enters "Pale Lager" territory, but itís doing what a pale lager does well in a crisper lightly hoppier format. The hop character is noticeably fruity & the malt character is crisp. The bitterness level is very low for the general notion of Pilsner, but for an American one itís by all means light and spot on. This to my amateur palate is a beer well made, many of the things I donít like about Budweiser are omitted here and have their place taken by more pleasant flavors. But thatís not saying itís an exciting beer, or even a really good beer. It is at itís best refreshing and basically clean. Honestly when Iím drinking beer, those two things can go a very long way for me. I would drink this again... but I could find something cleaner, more refreshing, and more flavorful just as easily as I could find this again, so itís not as though itís something I would ever seek out.

12-oz. bottle into a pint glass at my house on Dec. 4, 2012 (purchased the 12-pack for $12.99 at the 7/11 near Allied Gardens (San Diego) on Dec. 4, 2012. Honey golden (but almost amber) with about one finger of bubbly white head that dissipated at an above average rate. Hardly any retention. Smelled sharp whiff of alcohol up front, giving way to pilsner malts. Got honey, corn, hay and even a bit of caramel. Tasted a little more bland and watered down than I anticipated after the smell. Got light honey malts and thatís about it. Some light corn and grass. Light body. Thin texture. Average-to-above average carbonation. Abrupt watery finish. Started out so well, but fizzled once it hit my lips. That being said, it was better than a Bud Light of a Budweiser. Nice change of pace.
