COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer was first brewed in St. Louis by brewmaster Jim Bicklein and was developed in collaboration with brewmaster Katie Rippel from Fort Collins, Colo. “The original Budweiser brewery is, of course, here in St. Louis, so we wanted to honor our brewing heritage with a beer that uses ingredients that German immigrants, like our founder Adolphus Busch, would have used when they came to the United States,” Bicklein said. “In this pilsner we use the same types of Hallertau and Tettnang hops commonly used in St. Louis during the late 1800s.”

Pours light amber with a decent off-white head and a fruity aroma. There is a light pale malt flavor with modest hop bitterness.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy white colored bubbles that were very long lasting and left behind a softly carbonated transparent golden yellow orange colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was musty. The semi-thick mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering malty aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of semi-sweet mildly bitter mild hops malt and bread dough. An OK brew just nothing special.

12oz bottle - This one was almost identical to the bourbon barrel lager, but with much less flavor if that’s even possible. Finger nail polish and rubbing alcohol in the nose. Flavor is bland and lifeless, like drinking note paper that’s been liquified somehow. Crap.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a golden amber color with a tiny white head. The head fades very fast leaving almost no lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a caramel smell with some lighter notes of toffee and bread. Mixed with these aromas are some very light notes of an almost candy nature as well as some light citrus hop smells. Taste – The taste begins mostly bready with hints of caramel and a citrus hop. As the taste advances more hop of a grapefruit nature come to the tongue as well as some flavors of a light corny taste. In the end a mix of malt with a light sweetness of caramel and corn and a citrus bitterness sit to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was on the very average side in terms of both its carbonation and thickness. Both are rather appropriate for the style was well as the flavor profile, keeping it drinkable and more refreshing. Overall –For the price it is a fairly good brew. The flavor at the end is a tad off with the mix of a somewhat corn and bittered citrus taste, but overall its easy drinking and rather refreshing.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a slight golden yellow with a fond clearness to it. Fast rising carbonation was seen rising. Light foamy and somewhat bubbly white half finger-ed head dissipated within about thirty seconds. The lacing was all over the place. The smell had a dried out grassy aroma with a light biscuity malt. The taste was grassy and grainy with the light biscuity malt again. On the palate, this one sat fairly light with a pretty good sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat sharp but still good for the style and for me. Overall, decent pilsener, probably not one to go bonkers about but I’m unsure if Budweiser even makes this anymore.

I was hoping for a little more from this beer. Really light with a faint aroma and flavor. It might be a bit out of season and the more robust beers it was with made this one look weak.

Yellow pour with a white head. The aroma has a lot of toffee and biscuit malt. The flavor is toffee, caramel and biscuit. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Clear golden pour with ring of white head. I get ample sweet corn and graininess in this one. Surprising amount of earthy bitterness, though not much hop flavor, for a decent balance to the grainy sweetness. A small amount of butteryness also. Not something I feel the need to have again, but it wasn’t horrible. And I’d probably pick this over budlight.

Smells like corn and pilsner malt. Tastes like disappointment. Wait, how can it disappoint when my expectations are nearly zero? Sweet, bland, bad. What's next?
