Sampled from a 12 oz clear bottle this beer poured a medium amber color with a small foamy white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was faintly tangy and dryish with a touch of cardboard. The flavor was dry and very mild with touches of cardboard and nut. Almost no finish. Light body. Bland but inoffensive.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2011 Absolutely watery in flavor, although it does somehow maintain the Budweiser flavor, not a good thing, but not really the worst just not something I’ll have again if its not free like this was.

Clear, very light yellow pour with a quickly dissipating white head. Sour rotted corn aroma. Smells somewhat like vomit. No flavor. No alcohol either. I’ll stick with the water.

Select 55 has a thick, yet quickly dissipating head and a clear, bubbly, yellow-golden appearance. The aroma is very slight, but some sweet graininess is picked up. Taste is quite dull and mineral water like. A little grain and not much more is detected. The overriding taste is tap water. Mouthfeel is super-light and watery, and the finish of Select 55 is like water finishes. So dull! Overall, this is poor, and I advise you to stay away. RJT

My dad likes Bud Select and he wanted cans for a big family get together. They didn’t have regular select in cans, so dad got select 55. Um, wow. It really doesn’t taste like much of anything. It’s like 1/2 Bud Select and 1/2 tonic. I pounded like 10 of them to make it through the afore mentioned family get together, but couldn’t get more than the slightest buzz. On the bright side, I actually stayed hydrated with this stuff. It is not offensive or anything, just completely unremarkable.

Bad, but not #6 worst beer in the world bad. Not offensive, but mostly because it simply tastes like water. Not much more. Thats it. About the same as Michelob Ultra.

The fact that this doesn’t smell awful prevents it from an 0.5 score. This tastes like flat club soda. Awful. I can’t believe people pay for this.

Picked a bottle of this at Liquor Barn, it’s one of those brews that I know I’ll never buy a 6 pack of, but want to try for some stupid reason. 12 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a clear light gold color with about a 1/4 inch white head that went away very quickly. There isn’t any lacing left on the glass. Aroma is a bit of sweet malt, and not much else. It doesn’t smell bad, but it doesn’t exactly smell appealing either. The taste is pretty much just like the aroma. It tastes like a bit of sweet malt, but there aren’t any offensive flavors. Mouthfeel/body is light and watery, but that’s to be expected for this style of beer. It’s really not hard to drink at all. I was expecting the worst when I tried this brew, but I was pleasantly surprised. I hate to admit this, but if someone gave me a bottle of this, I’d drink it (not that I’ll ever buy this again). I’ve certainly drank worse beers. I’m not saying this is good, but for a 55 calorie light lager, it’s a lot better than I thought it was going to be.
