COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In The beginning, there were ales. As far as anyone knows, the first beers made were ’top-fermented’, which is longhand for ’Ale’. Sometime long before the 1860’s, beers became popular that were made in Northern Europe with a bottom fermenting yeast strain that liked the colder temperatures. Because they had to spend weeks aging before they tasted their best, they were known as ’Lager’ beer. Lager is the German word for ’storage’. Since they had to sit a while, they took up more time and space and as such were harder and more expensive to make. Where ales are meaty, lagers are sinewy. Where ales are street, lagers are ’haute couture’. Where an ale might hit you over the head and take your wallet, lagers donate to charity and adopt stray cats. While an ale might steal your car or try to date your daughter and keep her out all night for who-knows-what purpose, a well bred lager would offer to clean your house while you’re on vacation and leave fresh scones and coffee for you when you return. Now, don’t get us wrong, ales can be a lot of fun to hang out with when you’re in the right mood, and if you have bail money on you. But what’s wrong with livin’ uptown from time to time, on a nice street, where the doormen all wear those little uniforms, the air smells of flowers, and lagers rule the Earth. Cheers!

Draft at Rustico Alexandria. Pours straw yellow with an inch of white head. Not much on the nose. Smooth taste and light mouthfeel. Some nice hop bitterness on the finish. Solid example of style.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Rotem’s place. Clear to hazy pale golden with white head. Sweet, cookie dough, flowery aroma. Tastes delicately bitter. Light body, tangy, quick finish, lively carbonation.

A delicious summer beer and great representation of the style. Aroma was a beautiful mix of cream, grain and light malt. Pour was a nice cloudy light gold with a one finger off white head. Taste was light, sweet and full. Nice creamy flavor with a sweet graininess to it. Nice hoppy presence that is just enough to balance the beer out and not scare away wimpy BMC drinkers. Very nice beer!

Poured from the bottle into a 4oz sampling glass to drink. The beer had a clear light gold color with a small foamy white head that had very little retention, minimal lacing and low cling. The aroma had a light floral and grain effect, with a touches of fruit and citrus. It taste was a somewhat bitter grainy flavor with a light malt sweetness. The beer was thin with a light body and a touch dry with average carbonation and life. Thank you to Eric and Siobhan for the tasting.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Rotem’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Clear golden. Grainy aroma, a bit vegetal. Flavor has a bit of sweetish grainy malt and a slightly bitter finish. Light to medium-bodied.

Very alcohol bright aroma pils style. Pours a clear yellow with decent head out of the bottle. Tasty, but definitely a pils. A little sour.

Aroma is slightly citrusy and like bananas with some hops smell. Poured a crystal clear pale yellow with thin white head. Taste is similar to the smell and bitter. Thin body and fizzy.

Pours a lovely golden orange on tap with good white head that dissipates and leaves decent lacing. Smell is typical pils, german yeasts and wheat. Taste is similar, but a bit of hops typical to lagunitas. Clean and well balanced, with a slightly bitter finish. Not a big fan of pilseners, but this one is alright.

takin out the old fire engine for a spin, lucky bunny .. . Pours a deep yellow .. medium strong head .. great lacing .. you got any speeding tickets? .. . some light corn, light straight yellow squash, straw!, light bitter sweetcorn , and a light sliced bitter honey .. . medium to short finis .. nice for an American interpretation of the style- pils gotta be crispy! .. . .i don’t know how that could be true, because women don’t have groins...
