A bit too much of a potpourri aroma for me but the taste is better, with some chocolate and roasted malt powering through. Not really my thing but I’m glad to see this new brewery trying new things right out of the gate.

I personally thought this was a fantastic beer. It was presented to me as a stout but almost feels like a porter with a smokey backing the seeps through. Wonderful use of chai on the nose and at the beginning as it coats your palate. Well done!

Draft and the Hay Merchant. Pours dark, dark brown with a small dark tan head. Smells of chai and chocolate. Taste is extreme chai with hints of chocolate. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Buffalo Bayou Chai Porter finishes with a lot of spice notes.

Almost black with a substantial light brown head that laces just a little. Aroma of mint, tea, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove... it’s essentially potpourri. The taste is full of cloves, tea, and the other aforementioned spices. Beyond that, I guess it’s a robust porter, but it’s hard to discern anything beyond the spices. Medium bodied, pretty smooth. What is potpourri? Something that smells nice, but you wouldn’t really want to eat it... That pretty much sums it up here. I definitely would have been better off with just a few sips than I am with a growler full.

On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a cloudy brown with tan head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is spice and nutmeg. Thin mouthfeel with an overly spiced cinnamon and finish is synthetic tasting. Not much going on with this one.
