2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Kind of pungent but like the dryness in the finish. Watermelon like sweetness with some citrus. Okay. Granted this was a pioneer when it came out so give it respect.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
It poured a light golden color with a small white head. The aroma was very sweet and somewhat bready for an IPA. The taste was much the same; very sweet, tons of caramel, a little bit grainy, touches of fruit and piney herbal notes

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Friar Tuck in Peoria, IL. Orange pour, slightly hazy, with a small spotty white head. Floral hops, caramel malts, but nothing in your face about this IPA. A little bitter/dry on the finish. Just okay.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from QFC - Seattle (Ballard)
Hazy amber color; medium sized creamy head. Light aroma of malt. Dry malt and some caramel flavor, strong bitterness, but missing interesting traits, be the malt or the hops.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle bought at Albertsonís in Hayden, ID. Pours hazy copper with a medium off-white head that collapses into a skiff of foam and some lace. Aroma is bready, caramel, wet river rock--not the hoppy smell I prefer in an IPA. Taste is more APA than IPA, itís dry and faintly bitter, simple. Bland and forgettable.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear orange with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts and citrus hops. Flavor of citrus and herbal hops with some light malts. Has a strange funky taste as well.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
All I have to say is... really? One of the best? Is that why it only rates in the 49th percentile of all beers and is such a bad example of an IPA that it rates only in the 20th percentile among IPAs? Yikes... Iím almost sorry to be reviewing this, feels like it will taint my street cred. I suppose everything I review canít get an A+, right?
I donít think Iíve ever seen a beer with a head thatís as airy as this. Its off-white head pops away fairly quickly, leaving behind a thin layer atop a golden orange colored ale... lacing only exists where traces of sugars paste the huge, airy bubbles from the head to the edge of the glass. Carbonation runs rampant.
The aroma is grainy, and it only hols a hint of hops for 80 IBUs. Thereís something in the aroma that reminds me of cardboard and dirty laundry. Not too impressed. In the mouth... expect to make a grimacing face. It reminds me of an Abita Jockamo IPA for some reason. Thereís a touch of bitterness that could be used to make this a good beer, but everything else about the beer makes the entire experience plain nasty.
Even halfway down the glass Iím still making faces, and itís actually getting worse the more I drink. I donít know if the problem is quality control or simply a bad recipe, but beers like this can make craft beer look bad. Stay away from this if you can.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a deep gold bronze with a medium sized off white head. Aromas of light citrus, hops and malt. Taste is much the same. Grapefruit citrus, malt, and just a bit of pine sap. Moderately sweet bitter finish, with a nasty bit of licorice. Not exactly what I was thinking when grabbing an IPA.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. @ PhilnAudraís. I think a lot of reviews of this are based on the Pyramid connections rather than the merits of the beer itself. I thought it was perfectly serviceable, with enough hops to satisfy. I can imagine that at the time this was originally released it was probably one of the more bitter beers on the market making the label a legacy rather than any kind of modern claim.
