Bottle. Poured a dark brown/black with a one finger brown head. Aroma of blueberries and not much else. Flavor was fake blueberry cereal (Think Boo-Berries). Not a horrible beer, but not something that I would buy again.

Blah. Awful beer...not that I was expecting anything great. Aroma was stunning. Strong blueberry with nothing else. Pour was a nice deep dark brown with no head. Taste was very thin and weak. Strong blueberry and grain, with a bitter drying aftertaste. Tastes like cereal. Almost no carbonation. I would call this a fruit beer instead of a stout. Has no stout like qualities.

Tasting at River’s Bend. Pours dark brown with a faint tan head. Smells kind of like blueberry pancakes, which is a good thing. Blueberry is less present in the flavor, more of a balanced mix of chocolate, oats and blueberries. Average palate, interesting beer, not something I would have picked out on my own but not bad.

Overrated, watery, imbalanced, thin, and not enough blueberries. 30 lbs. of blueberries a batch may sound like a lot - but that depends on the size of the bath in regard to the other ingredients. Too much water!

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a slow-forming and thin tan head. Aromas are heavy of blueberries (although they come through as a little artificial) and not much else is detectable. Flavor is also heavy on the blueberries, to the point where they overpower everything else until the very late aftertaste where there is a bit of a stout-like chocolatiness. This is pretty good if you like blueberries, but not very good if you are looking for a stout.

Pour is clear dark brown with a light tan head. Smells like blueberry filling in a pie. Pretty dang good smelling to be honest. The stout comes through much more so than any berry flavor does which is nice. I get a nice roasted barley character, some smooth oats, and only a few hints of sweet berries in the finish. This brew mixes pretty well which I did not expect. Has a very light body but very well blended tasty flavors. Heck, I might buy this again.

Bottle. This brew pours with the standard characteristics of a good stout - black as midnight in color, small, tight tan head. The aroma is huge on blueberry. The flavor is very mellow, sweet, creamy, with a ton of fruit. It is probably what I would hand a person new to the style. It is very easy to drink, and was very enjoyable.

Fruity but not so super blueberry. Hidden in the not so rich stout. Some hints of chocolate and cream. Some bitterness and dry end. Easy and drinkable and could have more fruit for me.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2014 This beerís 50th rating. Bottle. Firm, yummy blueberry nose, thankfuilly not blindingly artificial. No stout smell to speak of. Very dark brown pour with a very creamy, rocky light brown head. Good lacing. Roasty mostly very dry stout with sweet blueberries accenting nicely. Good blending, no element too far apart from the next. Some nice chocolate on the bottom. Creamy, lightly prickling feel, has a lot of body for something Iím labeling medium (itís filling!). Overall, a close second to DHís Tres, and I donít think Iíd ever turn either down. Yum! [2008.08.08: 3.3]

Update: (Screw-top) Wow, huge jammy blueberry nose is much stronger than I expected. Taste in mouth confirms this is very much more a fruit beer than a stout, although itís still rather successful in achieving its aims. Itís funny, I would have thought Iíd have come across more commercial blueberry stouts over the past few thousand beers, but nope, not really at all. Iíd rank this as something of a guilty pleasure, well made enough, yes, but really missing out at a chance at transcendence (with roast, etc.). [2014.01.13: 3.3]

Courtesy of Matta. The aroma is comprised, as one might expect if they carefully investigated the malt bill of the beer, interviewed the principles involved with its creation and production or read the beerís label, mostly of a strong blueberry aroma. Chocolate is present as well, but it a chalky, low-grade version or rather it gives off the aroma of one. The blueberry itself smells a touch chemical in origin, but I do not know that it is. The body is full black and supports a diminishing, but creamy mocha head. The first sip is quite sweet. Chocolate, coffee and blueberry, which again seem to have the slightly bitter and alcohol-tinged taint of a chemical source, make up the bulk of the middle flavor ranges. The finish is mostly comprised of dark fruit and chocolate but the aftertaste is of perfume and chemical solvents. The mouth feel is full and thick though which makes it enjoyable to swallow if not necessarily to taste.
