From Buffalo BIll’s Brewery, one of America’s first brewpubs, comes the perfect winter seasonal beer. At 7.5% alcohol, this award-winning brew is a true winter warmer. Blueberry Oatmeal Stout has hints of chocolate, oatmeal and fresh blueberries. A wonderful pairing of flavors! Great for the holidays and for those who enjoy discovering new beers.
30lbs of blueberry per batch.

beer with fruits in it. creamy and dark with stouty texture. innovative, but blueberry just doesn’t belong in beer imho.

(12oz bottle) Creamy, medium tan head atop brown-black body, nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, blueberry, some chocolate, light roast. Taste is medium sweet, bittersweet chocolate, roast, blueberry. Medium body, some creaminess. The blueberry is nicely complementary.

Bottle. Midnight crimson with a firm but relatively thin top of foam. The unmistakable blueberry aroma is pervasive enough to reach my olfactory senses from at least 2 feet away. But somehow at the first quaff, there’s almost no sign of the blueberries on my palate. Instead, I get a quite ashy stoutiness. There is something more that must equate to the tannins from the berries, but without the aroma, I’d not have figured that out. Good alternative to dessert. (#3325, 2/17/2008)

Beer looks very nice-dark almost black in color with a creamy tan head. Smells very blueberry (of course). Mouthful is very thin for a stout and the blueberry flavor dissolves into a bitter finish. Its decent.

According to my bottle’s label, this was brewed by Pyramid for Buffalo Bill’s Brewery. I was under the impression that contract beers were supposed to go under the actual brewer. (?) Be that as it may -
It’s about time one of these overly fruited up Stouts was listed under Fruit Beer. And this time it’s one with my bane of the fruit world, the dreaded blueberry. Nice look, a dark mahogany body - nearly black - with a creamy tan head, but it reeks of a fruit that overpowers any beverage or food that it’s added to. Oh, there’s a touch of roasted barley and coffee, too, but you may as well have stuck your nose into a freshly baked pie. There’s more of those roasted ingredients in the flavor, but the blueberries take on an off bitterness that detracts from the Stout-ness of it all. The finish is dry, bitter, and burnt.
Gotta go now and brush my teeth and gargle... then drink a few sane IPAs...

Pours deep brown with a huge beige head. Blueberries dominate the aroma against a background of lightly roasted malt. In the flavor, the blueberry is more subdued; it let’s the stout be a stout. When the fruit does come in, it’s more tart than sweet. Well done.

Bottle. Pours utterly black with creamy tan head. Aroma is blueberry, of course, and roasty coffee. Taste is of a thinner stout with a lovely sweet and tart blueberry taste. Very nice.

Thanks to Mike for the bottle! Poured clear, deep garnety-brown with a short-lived cap of tan head. I really dug the aroma.. plenty of fresh blueberries draped over sweeter chocolates.. light roast to it all, and very sweet. The flavor wasn’t quite as good, but still hung in there well.. sweeter chocolates and oats at the core with with tart, fresh blueberries all-around.. the berries and chocolate stick around for a long finish. Medium-plus bodied with creamy carbonation (a bit too high, but still alright).. nice usage of the berries. Good beer.

Labelled as Blueberry Oatmeal Stout. Blueberries are subtle, maybe a little too subtle. I don’t know if blueberries are a good mix with a dark beer, raspberries work. It was an okay beer, but nothing remarkable.

Blackish brown, creamy tan head. Roasted sweet blueberry cream nose sits on wafts of mild chocolate and coffee tones. Dark toasted blueberry muffin flavors balance on hints of ashy chocolate and coffee. A nice hop dose late rounds this out well. Light to medium bodied, soft fluffy carbonation, bitterseweet finish. ABV of 7.5% is very well hidden. No problem with this brew at all. Well executed and tasty...
