3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Courtesy of Degarth. Pours very dark with thin mocha head. It has a big bouquet of blueberries that seem to be coming from sugary fruit extract along with a faint malt roastiness and a hint of tart like chemicals. It has a roasty flavor with a dominant blueberry extract taste that becomes a bit tart and drying into the finish. Seems like a great combination if the fruit part was done different (better).

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Courtesy of Degarth.
opaque body, dark brown or almost black, canít tell which...1 finger tan head, semi lasting, some lacing present...nose is oatmeal flakes, blueberries, chocolate, some roast, all of it very artificial and metallic...unfortunately this carries over into the flavor profile as well...stays away from cloyingly sweet, so thatís a plus...medium bodied, appropriate for a fruit beer...creamy mouthfeel...perfume and chemical notes kick up even higher on the back end...finish is lengthy, perfume, fake blueberries, oatmeal and some bitterness...
I had high hopes for this one but the metallic notes just ultimately killed it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(12oz bottle) Creamy, medium tan head atop brown-black body, nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, blueberry, some chocolate, light roast. Taste is medium sweet, bittersweet chocolate, roast, blueberry. Medium body, some creaminess. The blueberry is nicely complementary.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Midnight crimson with a firm but relatively thin top of foam. The unmistakable blueberry aroma is pervasive enough to reach my olfactory senses from at least 2 feet away. But somehow at the first quaff, thereís almost no sign of the blueberries on my palate. Instead, I get a quite ashy stoutiness. There is something more that must equate to the tannins from the berries, but without the aroma, Iíd not have figured that out. Good alternative to dessert. (#3325, 2/17/2008)

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Beer looks very nice-dark almost black in color with a creamy tan head. Smells very blueberry (of course). Mouthful is very thin for a stout and the blueberry flavor dissolves into a bitter finish. Its decent.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
According to my bottleís label, this was brewed by Pyramid for Buffalo Billís Brewery. I was under the impression that contract beers were supposed to go under the actual brewer. (?) Be that as it may -
Itís about time one of these overly fruited up Stouts was listed under Fruit Beer. And this time itís one with my bane of the fruit world, the dreaded blueberry. Nice look, a dark mahogany body - nearly black - with a creamy tan head, but it reeks of a fruit that overpowers any beverage or food that itís added to. Oh, thereís a touch of roasted barley and coffee, too, but you may as well have stuck your nose into a freshly baked pie. Thereís more of those roasted ingredients in the flavor, but the blueberries take on an off bitterness that detracts from the Stout-ness of it all. The finish is dry, bitter, and burnt.
Gotta go now and brush my teeth and gargle... then drink a few sane IPAs...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours deep brown with a huge beige head. Blueberries dominate the aroma against a background of lightly roasted malt. In the flavor, the blueberry is more subdued; it letís the stout be a stout. When the fruit does come in, itís more tart than sweet. Well done.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours utterly black with creamy tan head. Aroma is blueberry, of course, and roasty coffee. Taste is of a thinner stout with a lovely sweet and tart blueberry taste. Very nice.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to Mike for the bottle! Poured clear, deep garnety-brown with a short-lived cap of tan head. I really dug the aroma.. plenty of fresh blueberries draped over sweeter chocolates.. light roast to it all, and very sweet. The flavor wasnít quite as good, but still hung in there well.. sweeter chocolates and oats at the core with with tart, fresh blueberries all-around.. the berries and chocolate stick around for a long finish. Medium-plus bodied with creamy carbonation (a bit too high, but still alright).. nice usage of the berries. Good beer.
