Buffalo Bills Blueberry Stout

12 oz bottle. Pours dark. Smells like blueberry soap. Tastes a little like blueberries with some roasted malts. Kind of medicinal. Much too thin. Not very good.

Blueberries with milk chocolate with hints of a raspberry. Pours dark brown, reddish in the center when held to the light, no head. Slightly tart blueberries with hints of raspberry flavors, dark malts, molasses, with hints of milk chocolate, does have a slight medicinal taste though. Not bad, but not great.

had on 12/30/09 at 6:55pm on a wednesday after a few shiner frosts, lets see how this guy does. I love blueberry in beers, so.. smell is light sharp tar and blueberry jam .. . has a very nice head, some low but present lacing .. that or batman’s really let himself go.. . pretty good dose of bitterness, i would have liked it sweeter, but its ok maybe a bit simplified though.. easy drinker though.. its gonna be great chuck! you sly dog .. . abv is a little bit apparent. Decent stuff, would love to try on tap! would love it! ..god, marcy is such a lesbo! .. .

12oz bottle. Pours a black body with some particulate floating. A thin, light brown head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is mainly blueberries with a light tartness. Not artificial, but more like the blueberry smell of a blueberry pie. I barely get anything besides blueberries, but there is a hint...and I mean hint of roast and chocolate. Flavor has more of a malt flavor, but still has plenty of blueberry taste. More of a noticable chocolate and roast, but they still remain light. The blueberry turns into more of a vague fruitiness towards the end with a light tartness. Finishes with a light malty sweetness and dry roast. There is a light bitterness that dries it even more and leaves a moderate aftertaste of blueberries, tart fruits, and a hint of roasts. Medium body and smooth. Overall, this is not offensive at all, but its no good. The blueberry takes away all the stout qualities and doesn’t leave me wanting more. The flavor is slightly better than the aroma in that it actually has a bit of a roasty presence, but all-in-all, this sucks.

Sampled at Famous Liquors Holiday Tasting in Lombard IL. Poured a hazy, dark brown, with a modest, light tan head and light lacing. The aroma was somewhat toasty, with light cocoa, and some flower and fruit hints. The flavor revealed the fruit as almost undistinguishable blueberry, along with some spice notes. Maybe a Fruit Beer, but not a Stout. Possibly a thin, fruity Brown at best.

A: Pours more brown than black. Nice tall creamy with good retention and lace. Looks a bit thin as it pours. S: Well there is blueberry for sure. Nothing else can really be detected. Very artificial as well. T: The blueberry is there for sure, artificial in taste as well. No real roast which one would expect in a stout. No slick mouthfeel which is common in the style. A hint of watered down coffee can be picked up when the beer lost what little chill I put on it. M: Thin, watery, no creamy slick mouthfeel. D: Not really my cup of tea.

This beer pours a black color with a nice tan head. Aroma of blueberries and oatmeal. Wasn’t sure how the blueberry flavor would go with a stout but it was decent. A beer to sip on.

Pours dark brown to nearly black with off-white head. Nose has a true blueberry aroma (not artificial, contrary to what others have said). Some roasty notes are in the nose as well. This comes through on the palate as well, with some dusty cocoa, and of course blueberry sweetness. Hop bite at the end. Rather easy drinking, even with the fruit component.
