This is easily the best chili beer I’ve tried. Pours hazy yellow with a white head. The aroma is quite light and I don’t get much, but what is there comes off like a blond ale. The body is light and crisp with sharp carbonation that is very appropriate for the style. The flavor starts like a very nice clean blond ale, then some nectar fruits come through. The finish is when the chili peppers show and they some to be joined by some spicy hops as well. While I wouldn’t want to have too much of this I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this and will probably have it again in the future.

hmmmm, my first chili beer, how to rate this. Well, I’ll be honest, I’m rating from a sample (you don’t expect me to down an entire pint of a a strange style like this? Well, perhaps I will someday because I actually liked this. upfront, it is a nice delicate golden beer with a nice burn at the finish.

Tasted at the 2012 Westport Brewfest. It poured a hazy golden/yellow color with a small head. The aroma was different, not much spice in the nose, but a touch of heat in the finish. It catches up to you. It took a few seconds and the heat and spice hit you in the throat. The taste was like a light beer, then the heat sets in, a very good kind of heat. The chilis are not overpowering, but a decent beer to try.

Clear, definitely tastes strongly like chili, a little spicy as well. I wonder if they did this right, or cheated and just added hot sauce, or some other short cut adjunt.

Hazy golden yellow coloring with a small fizzy head. Not picking up very much spice in the nose, but the malt body is a little grainy with a touch of heat in the finish. Then it sneaks up on you. I actually was about to question the bartender when it hit me, it takes a couple of seconds and then the heat and spice hit you in the finish. Then it becomes a whole different beer. It is actually kind of refreshing and fun to drink, because the chilis are not overpowering in the slightest. This would be a great beer to food pair with.

Draft at the brewpub, 14 oz. glass, served a little too cold. Pours a cloudy pale golden color with a small white head. The aroma is pretty weak, with some notes of pale malts, straw, minerals, and just a hint of chili. Flavor of pale malts, honey, sugar, fruits, grains, and some chili right at the end. Most of the chili is in the afterburn, though. Light-medium bodied, with crisp carbonation and a mouthfeel that starts light and malty and finishes spicy.

Draft at the brewery in a tumbler. CB pours light yellow, almost Gatorade green. the nose is light but clean. There is light lacing and a small head. The taste is at odds with itself. It is sweet but has a pepper bitterness. Although this is better than most pepper beers it still misses the mark. The finish has a hot pepper spiciness that I just don’t like in beer.

Tasted at the 2012 St. Louis Centennial Beer Festival from tap into sampler glass. Poured a light, mostly-clear golden color with average white foam. Overall aromas and flavors are plain-ol’ neutral pale ale plus some spicy chili pepper capsaicin. Interesting if you’re in the mood. One of the better balanced, least offensive hot pepper beers I’ve tasted, but that’s not saying much.

(draught) pale yellow with small white head. Very little aroma. Flavor was mild malt, but with mild chili peppers in the finish. Not my thing.
