Tap. Good dunkel. Aromas of cola, and roasted malt. Taste is sweet, with a bitter finish, and average duration. Palate is velvety, with a medium body. Brown, with a frothy white head.

...bottle into pint. Hmm, on the nose was some weird roasted\bushfire notes. Color was dark murky brown with lots of weird sediment, the head was ok, but fell quickly with not much lacing. Flavors were mainly weird roasted malt notes with some slight spice and citrus hopnotes. Wasn’t too bad, but I guess it’s amazing given the location of the brewery. I went in there and the was actually a kangaroo sitting at the bar.

Big head, fizzy, not dense. Leaves a ’floater’ formation. Light brown with a touch of ruby red in colour. Spice / lemongrass and citrus from the nose is quite striking, and as per my tasting of the lager would appear better placed on a wheat beer style. Not all good however as there’s a definate soapy touch coming through as well. Early flavours back the aroma observations; piercing citrus and spice (and soap). Sorta ok but nil traces of chocolate, roast etc that one may expect to see in a dark ale. Prefer others.

Only medium dark with a beige head. Large particles of yeast in circulation. Aroma has lots of cloves and other spices. Heavily roasted or burned coffee flavour. Slightly soapy aftertaste because I poured the yeast in.

Almost dark brown body with a fairly poor light tan head. Caramel on the nose and some burnt characters. Sultana, cocoa, a little licorice and a little salty with a milky body.

Er, I guess interesting is one word which may describe this one. Murky reddish brown colour, messy flavour of burnt caramel and smoke. I can’t say I’m a fan!

NFOB 2004 Poured a murky/cloudy red/brown with an average sized head. Aroma - mostly nutty chocolate and toasted malt. Light carbonation. Meduim body with a sticky texture. Flavours again nutty and chocolate, maybe a hint of smoke. Pretty good stuff.

Salty, smoky, sea air whisky-type aroma with some cocoa powder and nail polish. Very roasty, burnt toast flavour, licorice with a salty, not bitter, finish. Very fizzy, poor head retention, opaque black colour.

Nice taste. Really hits you but had high carbonation for some reason. I didn't mind it, but it could less of the fizz.

a quaint and rustic brewpub to visit in a town of about 20 people. this had a chocolate and sultanas aroma, was moderately dark, was quite rich and full of molasses. thick and chunky and okay
