Tasted sometime back in October. Part 1 of the sampler from the brewpub. Filtered with a dark amber hue. Ring of off-white head. Caramel and toffee aromas with a slightly nutty undertone. Touch cookie in the nose. Medium bodied with a bright and crips malt character. Mild cola note. Touch nutty malts. All malt palate with a faint hop character. Sticky finish. Solid brown.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2011 Draft at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy nut brown color with a two-finger thick beige head, even more cloudy because of the foggy glass. It was served a little too cold for my liking. Notes of roasted malts, some coffee grinds, nuts, toasted brown sugar, leafy hops, overripe plum, and caramel. Medium-bodied, with mild carbonation. Some mild bitterness late but mostly nuts and roast on the finish. Decent brown ale, just would have liked it a bit warmer. Re-Rate- not necessarily new notes, but served in a non-frosted glass, this opens up more. Nice roast and toast, and a good brown ale that pairs well with the whole menu here.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackDonald (1127) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 31, 2008
Nutty brown coloring with a small ring of foam. Malty, roasted nut aroma. This is really smooth and creamy with a hint of sweet caramel and spicy nuttiness. This beer has great flavor that explodes on the palate. Great mouthfeel and drinkability. Finishes with a dusting of dry cocoa.

A pleasant, easy-drinking American brown with plum-like and toasted malt flavors. Could use a bit more oomph, but this is a friendly beer.

Dark brown beer with a small tan ring. Aroma is roasted notes. Flavor is very malty with lots of roasted coffee notes and a dash of chocolate. Hops are noted but are almost overpowered by the malt. It is semi sweet. A nice brown.

on tap-pours a tan ring for a head and dark brown color. Aroma is medium malt-roasty/cocoa. Taste is medium malt-roasty/cocoa, some earthy hops. Gentle in style, full flavored. Too soft on carbonation since not on hand pump.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 vyvvy (2920) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - APR 18, 2008
Pours very dark brown with a small white head. The aroma has some toast and no roast - seems like there may be some diacetyl hiding back there. This was odder than I expected for a brown ale. It is medium body that is very smooth with minor micro carbonation. The taste starts buttery, but doesn’t fully seem like diacetyl. There is very heavy toastiness, some nuttiness, coffee-like bitterness and some crisp hoppiness. The finish has a creamy coffee bitterness. This is a decent brown, but it is not my fave style by far.
