2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
...the best of the group, but still could be vastly improved. I guess it was supposed to be dark, but it was just a weird murly orangish yellow, with a small white head. there was some sediment in there too, but it wasn’t that yeasty. THe flavors were weird citrus notes, and not enough yeast at all, more dry wheat flavors. Not a great finish either. It was drinkable, but not even in the same galaxy as the big boys. Good try considering the location.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
On tap at the Buffalo Brewpub. Served a hazy copper color with a fair head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of grain with mild malt sweetness. Sort of a funky smell that is not too appealing. Taste is pretty bland with some mild malt sweetness, bit of fruit and grain. No defined bitterness and sort of a sticky finish. Light body. Not a lot going on here. Pretty dull generic beer.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at brewery. Interesting and aromatic. Aromas of banana, citrus, bubblegum, and apple. Taste is sweet, with some sourness, and good length. Palate is thin and watery. Orange with a fizzy head.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Murky orange, big white head... doesn’t hang around too long. Aroma is a bit like a saison, lots of funk, citrus and yeast. That funk is infection. Lightish body, leans more towards a lambic in the flavours, well done to them for managing to make an infected beer drinkable... It reminds me of a weaker version of some Jolly Pumpkin I tried yesterday. Oranges and funk hang along a long time after the last sip. Not bad, finished the bottle without too much hassle. Not your average hefe-wiezen, in fact its not a hefe-weizen at all.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: APR 19, 2007 I’ve just re-read my old notes and am convinced I was drinking the wrong beer so I’ll have another go. Medium amber in colour, perhaps caramel brown. No head but big thick lacing early, spider web-like. Funny nose; harsh citrus notes with plenty of obvious clove aromas. Kinda ok but heavy handed as well. More hard citrus to taste and no shortage of spice and bitterness. In fact one could throw this in the intense ’bucket’ such is the bitter, hard citrus kick. Just a tad disjointed to really be enoyable.

NFOB 2004 - Golden, fair head. Clovey wheat, light banana, spicy bitterness, tart refreshing, citrus, orange and lemon, I thought it not to be a bad hefe, maybe its better on tap...

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
i guess this is what that woman whose name i forget who was the mistress of one of the kelly gang who may or may not have drunk at this pub at some time would have drunk if she ever came here. no interesting yeast qualities. light orange colour. syrup texture, plenty of wheat but no subtlety and nasty finish

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
supposedly a "dark wheat beer" but looks sort of light orange, cloudy. banana and a bit of dust in what there is of an aroma. taste is bland, watery, slightly grainy, with a rough POR kick as PEAK from Afghanistan might say.
