COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional.
Made two or three times a year and usually available at most times. This robust ale is overflowing with malt and fruit, but is never sweet or cloying like most beers of this strength.

Cask gravity @ Battersea BF 2012. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy caramel aroma. Fruity malty hoppy bitter caramel flavor with weak sour hints. Has a fruity malty bitter hoppy caramel finish.

Cloudy orange brown beer in this tiny bottle! Still managed to lose 10% on it’s frothy eruption of a release. Semi dry crisp palate. Sourish malt, frothy on the tongue. A litlle hop bitterness at the end. Very easy drinking.

(Bottle) White head with an amber colour, although bottle serving is too small to get a great picture. Aroma is alcoholic with some malt and rich fruit. Sweet malt taste with more alcohol, toffee and fruitcake. Very nice, strong, intense, although could perhaps be refined a bit.

Bottle from Pig’s Ear 08. Fruity aroma. Cloudy brown, large head. Fruit, hops, decent balance. Duvel-like. The alcohol is not prominent. I’d actually like a bigger taste than this miniature bottle.

Bottle from Pig´s Ear Festival, London
Hazy amber color, creamy head. The aroma has some caramel, sweet, a bit fruity (unfortunately some apples too) and light yeast. Some malt flavor, but too much vegetables character; less booze than the infamous Whitbread Gold Label, but missing any Barley Wine quality; the body is quite strong, and the bitterness correct. Quite boring.

Cask Handpump from the New Century Hall, Manchester 21/01/2006 Amber coloured and very strong in alcohol with a slightly rich aroma and flavour. Fruity and crisp on the palate with some dryness and bitterness in the finish.

Gingery orange colour. Fruit and soft spices on the nose. Juicy fruit and rich malt in the flavour. The malt is maybe a bit doughy. Smooth, velvety texture. Some acidity towards the finish, but falls away a little. A pretty good barley wine. Cask (gravity dispense), White Cliffs Beer Festival, February 2005.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel Northampton. A reddy amber coloured beer with a lack of aroma other than some light fruits. The taste though is massive and delicious with warming alcohol, fruits, malts, angel delight and nail varnish. Very full bodied and tasty. So moreish at 9%.

Cask conditioned and on Handpump at the Derby CAMRA winter beer festival on 09/02/05. Mid amber brown colour. Malty & rich. The kind of beer that can cure a cold :) Very drinkable despite the strength...

Cask (handpulled) at Derby Winter Beer Festival 2005. Really rather rich, booze-soaked fruit, creamy feel, touch of fresh split wood, sharp on the tounge.
