3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 imdownthepub (7470) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 19, 2011
Cask conditioned at The Royal Blenheim, Oxford. Amber with white head. Fruity, malty beer, didn’t get the Mount Hood hops at all, there is an earthy, dampish, fungal hop note, leaf litter that doesn’t lift the beer, frankly it’s a little dull.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 sm89walt (1419) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - OCT 3, 2010
Cask - The Kings Head, Norwich. Poured a clear amber with a mostly lasting creamy-foamy beige head leaving a bit of lace. Sweet toffee malt aromas. A bit of marmalade on the tongue behind the dominant sweet malt body. Bready, biscuity malts too with an earthiness and touch of citrus in the finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and a short, dryish, light hop finish. A solid ESB & a point for the condition.

A Mes rate: Cask at The Crown. Golden brown with a good white head and lace. Pleasant nutty malt and floral hop aroma. Run of the mill hoppy bitter in the mouth with an uneventful finish. Balances well but just nothing to give it any interest.
