It’s great when you find some of the old nots lying round. This was tasted at NFOB04 in Brisbane. Winkle and I were wandering arround a fair bit toether trying the odd beer. This is a well presented ber with good head and malty aroma. Fine caramello swetness and some good hoppy presence. I wanted to give this another go and had it again in the pavilion. Once again a good interpretation of an alt.

NFOB 04, Darkish amber, nice smooth creamy head. The aroma is very malty, grainy bready caramel, also some nice hoppiness detected. Nice toasty maltyness, some fruit and a herbacious hoppy bitterness.

NFOB 2004. Well the hefe was crap but this sure isn’t. I’m not well versed on alts but this one was very nice. Looked great, amber colour even left some lacing on a plastic cup. Caramel malt flavour with a medium body and creamy mouthfeel. Light bitter finish.

Some museli slice. Pineapple and Kiwi fruit tastes. Some under emphasised german hops? OK.

Haven't had to many REAL altbiers, so i'm not the best judge, but it seemed pretty true to style for me. Floral hops in the aroma, some caramel, and a nicely hoppy flavour, dry finish, pretty tasty, if not over the top.

nfob03. this was the beer i was most looking forward to trying at the national festival of beers. it was decent enough, they certainly seemed to be trying hard to be authentic but that's not easy. good copper colour, floral aroma, hint of chocolate in the start and a finish of toothpaste for some reason. it was my last beer of the night so i guess it saved brushing

UPDATED: APR 25, 2007 Tried this beer back in august at Clancys fishpub in Subi. It had a copper brown colour with a small head and fairly good lacing. Quite light in body, initial taste of smooth malt finishing with a slight bitterness(Saaz hops?). Cheers!
