Aubrey (2592), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 8, 2002 Excellent mouthfeel, extremely well-balanced, kind to the palate, and very fresh-tasting with absolutely no off-flavors to complain about. I just wanted to keep chewing on the tasty malt flavors, long after they had passed. Rich, aromatic hoppiness complements well. Quite possibly one of the best ESBs I’ve ever had. Really. ratman197 (2260), Arvada, Colorado, USA May 16, 2005 Cask conditioned. Pours clear amberwith an off white head, leaving behind brussels lace.Aromas of malt and carmel.Creamy mouthfeel. Flavors of malt and earthy hops with a pleasently bitter aftertaste. Avery enjoyable beer. alaskanwarren (271), Edgewater, Colorado, USA Sep 28, 2005 Updated: Feb 23, 2006From the cask. Smells bitter, old, malt and crispy smells. Tawny red, creamy off-white head. Flavor is bitter, tiny hints of roast, and dry hints of hops. The hops are interesting because I only experience them on the finish. Overall it feels really mellow and I experience the wood without it taking front state. A little on the malty side but a delicious take on the ESB. Update: I just tried the non-cask version and it’s fantastic as well. waolsen (956), Littleton, Colorado, USA Jul 14, 2007 tap. copper iwth nice clarity. no head. citrus hops, roasted malts. sticky malts, floral and fruity, dry bitter finish with caramel notes. nice.
