COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An Irish style dry stout that would make Uncle Mossy of Port Laois proud. Classically brewed with Kent Goldings Hops and offset by sweet malts, the end result is a rich, dark and gently roasted experience. Roasted and flaked barley finish this stout to create its well rounded body and extremely fragrant white head.

Tap at brewery. Pours black with a medium, fizzy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast, chocolate, and coffee malt, leather yeast, and tropical fruity esters. Flavor is dark roast malt, bitter malt, and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation, low warmth.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a small light tan head. Aroma is very chocolatey, also some roasted and sweet malts. Flavor is less chocolatey with more roasted notes and especially charred malt. A pretty good stout overall. 7/4/7/4/14 [3.6/5]

Almost pitch black, hold this one up to the light and it shows some reddish brown highlights. Sporting a thick viscous tan head, the aroma is one dimensional, pouring forth thick burnt black coffee redolence. Starts thick and oily and fades quickly into a dry and charred malt finish.

Brown pour with a creamy tan head and lace. Aroma of sour malt and a hint of coffee. Good coffee flavor with light chocolate and some roasted malt with a medium malt bitter. Thin and watery but good.

Slight charcoal aroma. Dark garnet brown, clear. Powerfully smoky flavor of heavily roasted barley. Ends in charcoal. They should call it a "rauchstout"

Pint at the brewpub. Pours near black with an almost white head. This seems to be a clean, straightforward delivery of a stout. The aroma is chocolatey and a little meaty. Slick palate. Flavor is meaty with lots of black chocolate and a dry finish. Typical dry stout, not bad.

Deep mahogany pour, with an eggshell head that leaves trace soapy lace. Roasted grains and coffee to the nose. Immediate dry-roasted coffee and grains, with some nice bittering to add in the lasting finish.... makes for a nice linear pull. Mouthfeel is medium to medium-thin. A nicely integrated offering, and one of the better samples from the brewery.
