Commercial Description:
Our brew master’s oldest signature beer. In the tradition of the German Dunkel style, this is a dark chestnut lager with slight hop sharpness. It is then delicately balanced with Munich and roasted chocolate malts to produce its signature smooth finish. This combination makes for a big, complex, subtle and very satisfying glass.

Draft:Distinct butterscotch aroma with pecans. Clear chestnut colored with a medium head. Fantastic complexity with a plethora of woody and nutty flavors, chiefly walnuts and chestnuts. It is just a bit buttery. Tree bark is detectable. This was a unique beer and a nicely crafted dunkel. My sample was flawed a bit, but I like what the brewer is doing with it. I bought a growler of it to take home. This is my favorite from this brewer.

Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear chocolate brown color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Malty aroma with predominant toffee and raisin notes. Taste is bitter hops up front with raisin and chocolate notes. Dry. Medium bodied. Not quite rated as highly as others, but my favorite from the night.

Musty nose on top of a slightly hazed mahogany-chestnut pour. Spider webbed lace down the glass, somewhere between eggshell and tan. Dry roasted malts predominantly, with a slight integration of woody hops. The mouthfeel is unique, not sure if that’s a good or bad thing..... Creamy with decent carbonation levels that combine to leave a thin palate. Ok, I guess, but just not what I was expecting from the brewmaster’s oldest recipe.

Draught at the brewhaus, #442. Mahogany pour with small head. Toasted malt aroma. Malt flavor with a bit of a Yuenglingy flavor. Not bad, kinda watery.
