StueyD (590), King’s Lynn, Norfolk, Norfolk, England Aug 27, 2007 A dark cola brown coloured beer with a weak, off-white head. Light toasted malt nose, vinous with a hint of liquorice. A bitter dark malt taste, strong coffee and bitter chocolate, and a vinous, fruity flavour. A long bitter finish. (Cask - The Ouse Amateur Sailing Club, King’s Lynn, Norfolk). duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Mar 16, 2007 Cask@St Albans BF 06. Quite sweet and caramelly, subtle notes of mollasses. Some green apple and some light sulfuric eggyness, which suggests it wasn’t quite as fresh/ready as it could have been. Some cereally and nutty malt notes also noticed. Tasted quite OK in the end though. chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England Dec 30, 2006 Cask (gravity dispense) at St Albans Beer Festival, September 2006. A very dark bitter - deep chestnut colour. Slightly bready malt aroma. Quite bitter on the palate with cooking chocolate and some sharp berry fruit. There’s a distinctly sour pickup on the finish. Treads the line between a bitter and an old ale, almost straying into traditional porter territory too. Whatever category it belongs in, I thought this was a very interesting beer and a promising early offering form a fairly new brewery.
