(draught) Dark-deep brown, no head. Nose of molasses, bit nutty - and I get some parsley again. There's hops there too. Taste is soft-sweet, nearly neutral taste. OK for a brown ale or a mild, but not exhilarating. Well-bodied, not thick. some sticky mouthfeel (molasses again?). Brown ale is not really my style, I suppose. This one is not really bad, but I can't go wacko over it.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2015 Bottle (Oct 29, 2014 bottling). Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (nuts, toasted grain/bread), lightly hoppy (herbs), with light notes of red grape, honey, and taffy. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Pretty mediocre...slightly unusual aroma (for the style) offers both minor intrigue and minor unpleasantness. Quite bland, thin, and watery in the mouth...more so than a 6% brown ale would suggest.

tap@ bb.  Clear mahogany color with ivory head. Nutty, dark bread, dark fruit aromas.  Light bodied.  Mild medium roast, nutty, buttery flavors---could be better

On draft at Falling Rock Taphouse, Denver, 4/15/06: Reddish-brown with little aroma but a yummy malt-ball flavor. Nice and smooth. Excellent.

A fairly dark and robust brown ale, with a lot of chocolate and hazelnut character to it, as well as a fair amount of roasted malt flavor, and some buttery qualities on the back end - moderate bitterness and some leafy character in the finish - a decent brown.

onceblind (5313) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 29, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 3, 2011 Chestnut brown, with clear ruby tones. Aroma of light cocoa, sugar cookie, and assertive nutty notes. Texture was a bit bland, a bit too light bodied with not enough carbonation. Not punchy enough. Lots of smooth nutty brown malt on the flavor. There is also some light cocoa tones, but little else. Finish is very fleeting.

Tap @ the Brewpub. Poured a clear copper-brown color with an off-white head. Chocolate and caramel aroma. The flavor was toasty with some chocolate. Light bodied. A little thin.

Tap. Pours clear brown with thin, creamy beige head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is caramel and cookie malt, floral hops, dates, apples, and faint cloves. Flavor is sweet malt forward with some supporting hops and light fruit esters; semi-sweet finish. Medium body, low carbonation, and low warmth.

Cybercat (3984) - Georgia, USA - JUL 4, 2008
Pours a deep, almost opaque, almost sable brown with a fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma is rich and smoky with strong coffee overtone and spicy hints. Malty flavor is well-rounded with a considerable burnt coffee component and hints of chocolate and hops. The sweetness nicely balances the hoppy bitterness. Texture is smooth, rich and pleasing.

Draft at brewpub. Pours brown with a thin brown head. Slight caramel note on the nose. A bit of malty goodness on the tongue with a hint of nuttiness. Clean finish. Hoping this would be stronger.
