Pours brownish with off white head on tap, aroma has nice sweet notes of toffee, nuts, molasses, some burnt toast, with a touch of roast. Taste is nice with notes of toffee, molasses, some dark fruit, nice nut notes with a slightly roasted but mainly sweet finish. Good brew, but needed a bit more.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 onceblind (1615) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 29, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 3, 2011 Chestnut brown, with clear ruby tones. Aroma of light cocoa, sugar cookie, and assertive nutty notes. Texture was a bit bland, a bit too light bodied with not enough carbonation. Not punchy enough. Lots of smooth nutty brown malt on the flavor. There is also some light cocoa tones, but little else. Finish is very fleeting.

Tap @ brewpub. Somewhat translucent brown appearance. Fairly string nutty characters on top of brown maltiness in the nose. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel with below average carbonation. Quite nutty brown malty flavor that’s very smooth and very easy drinking. One of this place’s best beers.

On tap at the Fallen Rock. A little astringent English brown however dead on style.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bigbish (378) - Colorado, USA - JAN 12, 2011
I was excited by this beer since I love brown ales. I am disappointed. The flavor is good, but the beer is very thin and watery. Needs more body. Kick this up another notch and it could be great.
4.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 bcasadei (4) - Colorado, USA - DEC 31, 2010 does not count
roasty aroma, dark brown color, minimal head, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, full body, creamy, average carbonation, nice balanced roasty finish with a slight hop bite. I enjoyed the nice balance of this brown ale, very drinkable.

On tap at GABF as I was pouring for Bull & Bush. Pours a fairly typical darker brown color with a well-formed off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is nutty and chocolatey, not too intense but nice. The flavor is heavy on chocolate malts, lending a bit of a Hershey bar flavor to it, with caramel and nutty notes in there too. Medium-bodied with average carbonation and a pretty smooth mouthfeel. Solid example of the style overall from the surprisingly good Bull & Bush.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JAN 24, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a brown color with a thin white head. This might be one of the better brown ales that I have ever had. It is rich, chocolatey and full of flavor. I would drink this beer regularly and I don’t even like the style. This is full of lots of complex flavors. Mildly roasted with an unexpected spiciness.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 notalush (3742) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 12, 2009
A fairly dark and robust brown ale, with a lot of chocolate and hazelnut character to it, as well as a fair amount of roasted malt flavor, and some buttery qualities on the back end - moderate bitterness and some leafy character in the finish - a decent brown.
