Slight musky smell with light medicinal notes. Black as night in color with almost no lacing. The palate is fairly thin with the medicinal notes coming through. There is also a smoky feel on the palate. OK overall.

Pours dark black with off white head on tap at the brewpub. Aroma has notes of pepper, dark fruit, some nice roast, fruit notes, touch of toffee, charcoal in there as well. Taste is lots of black pepper notes, licorice, some dark fruit, toffee, roasted malt in there as well, with a sweet toffee and fruity note, finishing fairly dry. Very interesting brew!

On tap at Bull and Bush poured a clear dark reddish brown nearly black with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of licorice, roastiness and light chocolate. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of roastiness, licorice and dark chocolate with a smooth dry lingeing licorice finish.
