3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 arminjewell (3107) - Parker, Colorado, USA - APR 1, 2012
Pour on tap at the brewery, dark red pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, hints of dark fruit and a slight burnt quality with some nice rich almost smoky notes. Taste is a nice mix of spicy and caramel notes, hint of biscuit, some dark fruit and a slight roasted note, finishing fairly smooth. Interesting for sure.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 onceblind (1615) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 4, 2012
Clear dark burnt amber with a thin spotty head. Aroma not unlike a winter warmer. Dark malts, sweet nutmeg, and some sort of raisin-like dark fruitiness in the nose. Flavor is dark malty sweet with just a touch of peat smokiness, a light touch of chocolate, faint notes of winter-warmer mulling spice, with a smooth dark malt/peat finish and whispers of dark fruity tones.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 adnielsen (3755) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 16, 2011
Tap @ brewpub. Deep red, almost brown appearance with a light head. Sweet amber malty nose. Somewhat bitter amber malty Scottish ale. Pretty smooth and drinkable but not all that exciting.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bigbish (378) - Colorado, USA - JAN 12, 2011
amber color, not much carbnation. Malty aroma. Flavor is very sweet, took me by surprise. Lots of peaty flavors and a hint of roastiness. A good beer, but a little too sweet to dink a lot of.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 DJMonarch (9152) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - OCT 11, 2010
On Tap at Bull & Bush Pub & Brewery, Glendale 14/09/2010
Malt aroma. Amber coloured strong in alcohol a little sweet on the palate and malty. A hint of earthiness and bitterness in the finish.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Pawola22 (2203) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 28, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear mahogany colored body with a thin, creamy, tannish head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is muted with some flowery malts and fruits. Some earthy peat too, but not a whole lot going on. Flavor is better, but a bit jumbled. Caramel, toffee, smoke, earthy peat, and dark fruits before a semi-dry, smoky finish that lasts for a moderate duration. Light to medium body and smooth with a soft carbonation. Overall, not terrible, but somewhat thin and boring. Eh...
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 3fourths (6399) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 8, 2010
draft @ table 6 in denver. clear rust body with an off-white head. skunky peat and old/mold/fermented vegetables in the nose and up front. flabby body, disjointed carbonation. really a poor choice for a local draft to have on at probably my favorite denver restaurant right now.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 notalush (3742) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 17, 2010
Fairly light for the style, but straightforward and satisfying nonetheless - quite earthy and peaty, with light hints of smoke, very reminiscent of scotch, which shouldn’t surprise me, considering the staggering array of single malts available at the brewpub - outside of this, there is not much going on in this beer, but what is going on is pretty good - would I like more complexity? - yes - but I would order this again.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ratman197 (5916) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JAN 16, 2010
On tap at Wynkoop poured a clear amber with a lingering ring of ivory foam. Aromas of peat smoke, carmel, toffee, light fruittiness and light brown sugar. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of peat smoke, carmel, brown sugar and fruittiness with a smooth lingering peaty finish.
2.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Kevin (1953) - Colorado, USA - MAR 12, 2007
tap at the brewpub. med. brown body with a lasting sticky head that leaves a cobweb of lacing down the glass. very buttery, i had a hard time getting past all the diacetyl. tastes like a grape soda without the grape flavor, sweet, caramel, light chocolate, and a cookie dough note. smokey flavor emerges as it warms. really one that i’d have been better served letting warm more.
