Wood, maple syrup and walnut aromas. Deep amber-brown in color. Super sweet with walnut and maple notes. A bit overly syrupy sweet...almost like a cordial.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours cloudy brown with a thick white head. Has a cotton candy and chocolate rye aroma. This beer is thick as a brick. Lots of syrup. Pretty much a rye bomb. This beer tastes as much as a Thomas Hardy ale as anything I have ever had brewed in the US. This is freakin’ awesome!! Lots of heat in this beer. The esters that emerge from the glass are very fruity.

damn, iremember when i had this beer, and i’m just getting the notes put in. lumpy will be drinking beer before my backlog is gone. extremely hazed and murky cola color with almost no head, just an island of film on top. strong whiskey nose with some anise like pepper. thick milkshake like mouthfeel that lets me know there was not a light hand with the rye. flavor is strawberry, booze, and some pepperry notes. bubblegum, mellon, berry, and booze. onesidedly sweet. 2 4 4 2 6

Tasted at GABF 2008. Brown pour with small tan head. Nose of wood, spices, vanilla and caramel. Flavor is the same with a bit of whiskey.

On tap poured a cloudy brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of rye, wood, spice, vanilla and light carmel. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of rye, oak, vanilla, spice and a hint of carmel with a smooth warming lingering rye whiskey finish.
