3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Slightly murky tawny/ruby in color, with a head that doesn’t last long at all. Sugary nose of brown sugar, earthiness, and a little bit of sweet-potato essence (don’t know if I would have guessed that if not for the name...). Smooth balanced flavor with lively yet fine carbonation, nice earthy sweetness with just enough gentle grassy/herbal bitterness to balance it. Doesn’t taste anything like sweet potato casserole like I feared and secretly hoped, but is more like a Belgian Dubbel, with dusty earthy maltiness, a bit of brown sugar, and some light herbal tones. No yam or sweet potato notes on the flavor.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
draft pours reddish dark brown with light tan head. Aroma of carrot cake, yam, nutmeg, caramel, malts and spices. Flavor mimics aroma except for a subtle red wine tartness on the finish. Medium bodied, wouldn’t have thought it was 8%. There are notes of wood; oak; almost slightly bark-like on the finish.
