On tap at the brewpub this was served in a chalice and was a amber-red color. The smell was faint but a little spicy. The taste was minty and leathery which I did not care for. This was not one of the better Saisons I have had. Oh well, it was worth a try. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 06-18-2007 16:30:39

Draught at Bull & Bush: Clear peach. Wispy white foam. Adjunct-laden nose of green raisin, allspice and chicory. Soft, prickly carbonation. Slippery body. Initially sharply earthy/rooty with assertive allspice and chicory notes softened by a light yeastiness and green raisin tartness. Hint of toasted malt accentuates the rooty dryness while notes of anise and ginger thrust forth. Heavily yeasty and spicy. Finishes with a thoroughly toasted honeyed biscuit notion amid lingering anise and more rooty notes that numb the palate. A bit wet and fuzzy, and overpoweringly adjuncty. Not much saison character, either. Pretty weak.

Draft at GABF. Pours a deep orange with a head that loves me. Nose is spicy, citrus forward with some cardamom and a hint of coriander. Tartness evident in the nose. On tasting, the tartness is super refreshing, the body stays mid-light and crisp. Nice hop component and a citrusy tartness that is really great. Really nice beer.

Clear dark golden orangeish with a small white head. Amazing saison aroma of apple, earthy cinnamon funk, light citrus, light hay, and a touch of candy sweetness. One of the best tasting saisons I can recall. Citrus, coriander, light seed grain, a touch of cinnamon-apple, a not-too-funky barnyard funk, with a refreshing finish of grains and grassy hops. Finish reminiscent of a good blonde ale. Light-medium body, but with a very full and rounded flavor profile. Addictive to sip.

tap at bull&bush. 7% alcohol. Pours a hazy orange gradient with small white to no head. Flowery, herbal aroma, some lavender, sage, spicy wheat. Medium bodied and pretty refreshing. Flavor of spiced wheat with floral aspects, lavender on a lingering finish, slight tartness. Pretty nice.

10th October 2008. GABF. Arrrrgh! More Bull & Bush Confusion! Presented as the ’37th Suitcase Saison’ as GABF 08 (backed up by the brochure). Now under this brewer on RB we have the ’37th Anniversary’ and this beer here - both Saisons! I will assume we are talking about this beer as ’suitcase’ seems too unusual to have been used twice! Clear gold beer. Full of those nice aromatic saisin flavours. Well balanced and very flavoursome.

On tap at B&B. Goblet. Clear, filtered and no head. Nose is very mild and just a bit funky-not much nose. Taste comes off very mild with a small bit of horseblanket/funkiness that would be expected in this style. Very carbonated. OK and drinkable but not quite to style. Addendum: "local 70’s dude" got pissed off at me because I took "his" seat at the bar. Of course he tells me this when he/she is leaving. The queen has spoken and welcome back-from the 70’s. Ass-wipe.

tap at the brewpub. nice tan pour and a lasting eggshell gray head. rubber nose with a mint like scent that is hard for me to describe. soapy flavor(like the handsoap in bullzeye’s house smells) reminds me a bit of some some herbal tea and cough drops. a bit of lingering strawberry to this.

Draught at the brewery. Pours clear amber with a small fizzy light brown head, somewhat lasting, good lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, cookie, straw), average hops (grass), average yeast (leaves) with notes of clove, brown sugar and nutmeg. Light bodied, slick texture, soft carbonation and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness; nice spiced earthy yeast and straw malt flavor.
