COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A true German style Bock beer. This Lager was aged for over six weeks and was breed with Munich malt and traditional German hops. The Bock style is light amber/brown in color with a medium-full body, rich and malty. The word Bock means Goat in German. The famous 1965/66 Hillside High School basketball team featured John "Goat" Bullock and a standout on the famous "Pony Express" team. With potential to become one of the greatest of NBA players, Goat scored 42 points in the championship game, then left for NY and was never seen again.

On tap at BCBB. Lightish amber pour with only a moderate carbonation, more translucent than I expect from the style. Soft toasted malts and mild fruit in the nose but with a touch of spice that is welcome. Mouthfeel is a tad watery and there’s not much happening on the palate. But again, there’s a kiss of hops and spice that relieves this from being a merely functional malty bock. Not bad.

Sharp clean copper pour with one finger of sandstone head. Malt forward nose, dextrinous notes with some caramel and sweet bread and some toasted grain. Spicy and herbal hop profile with a toasty malt character. Medium body and spicy prickly palate.

Draft at Brewery. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a small white head. Nose is lightly bitter upfront, some light sweetness. Tastes more like a hoppy amber or APA than a bock to me. Good and sessionable though.

Draft at the brewery. Copper color with a thin white head. This struck me as similar flavor profile to some of the better Octoberfests I’ve had. I initially tasted honey, candy sugar, toffee, and just enough hops to clean up the palate. As the pint lowered, the peppery hops became more apparent. What...another well made sessionable beer from Bull City?! Yup, they’re good at these.

Pours light brown in color, with a thin off-white head. Nose of honey and bread. Mild grain notes, and a touch of hop presence. I’m not a huge fan of the style, but this is pretty good.
