3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 TURDFERGUSON (2753) - Carrboro, USA - NOV 10, 2011
Draft at brewpub. Pours reddish amber with a thin white head. Nose is resinous piine, light citrus, booze. Flavor is hoppy and boozy. Good, but would be much better if they lowered the abv.

Pint at brewpub, good aroma, sweet. Nice mix, pine, caramel. Minor citrus. On the orange side. Brownish orange color, good head and lace. Bittersweet flavor. Thick body, creamy oily mouthfeel, Bittersweet finish. Nice. Aroma best part, looked good too.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 DukeBrewDevil (648) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - NOV 4, 2011
Draft at the brewery served in a really cool looking tulip glass. Burgundy colored with only a hint of haziness. This one hits an interesting spot between the boozy, rich flavors of a barleywine and the spiced characteristics of English Christmas Ale, filled out with a sweet malt base and a bit of burn. Very tasty stuff, though it was quite hot. Also, while it looked fully carbonated, the mouthfeel was too flat. Delicious for sure, but more flawed than I’m used to for this stellar brewery.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JCB (3100) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - NOV 4, 2011
Like Bob, I found this to be in all likelihood the strongest beer yet from the BCBB crew. In many ways reminiscent of the Wonka Wash on tap over the summer, this brew is pungently hoppy, with a strong malt base and a healthy booze kick. So if WW was their Arrogant Bastard clone, well, double it up. Was very good to have this as fresh as possible, as the intensely fragrant hops are what made the beer to me. Hoping the bust this one out again.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 durhambeer (2096) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - OCT 19, 2011
On tap at the brewery. Pours dark amber with thin beige/slightly yellow-hued head. Big hops on the nose, but a generous amount of caramel and toffee malts. This is almost a DIPA, but there’s enough malt backing it up, I think this is more of the broad "American Strong Ale" category. Quite tasty. One of their best beers. Strong, so I had to hold back.
