COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A true British style Porter, brewed for our warmer weather and for drinkability. The medium body is fresh with roasted coffee/ toffee aromas and flavors from start to finish. This Porter has a creamy head like a cappuccino, but none of the caffeine. Made from dark roasted malts, this is a dark beer lovers dream. The Duke family’s first tobacco cigarette was called Pro Bono Publico which in Latin means “for the public good.” Sorry this beer is not free. We recommend it with our pound cake like coffee with dessert. Served on the Nitrogen blended tap. Hops Used: Northern Brewer, Goldings, Fuggles

Tap at Bull City. Dark, nice in that it was not served too cold. Nice lacing. Chocolate roast taste and nose. Slightly sweet. Nice.

On tap at brewer. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Scent is roasty, with coffee. Taste is dark bitter chocolate and roasty. Thin

Pours a dark garnet brown with a creamy tan head. Nose shows a light coffee-like roast with some grain husk notes. Some bitter chocolate and dark grain character. Light roast and hull character in the flavor, coffee-ish. Very mild and light porter. Dry and light bodied.

Nitro tap, which they seem to have discontinued. Decent enough carbonation with one-finger light tan head atop a dark brown body. Nose is roasty grain with some sweet chocolate and mild coffee. Tastes and feels thin, but not a bad beer for my burger by any means.

On tap at the brewery. I had this when it was a nitro pour but even so it wasn’t an especially thick consistency. Dark brown pour with a minimal head that is a bit disappointing. Moderately roasty nose with a bit of chocolate in there too. Body is, as expected, on the weak side and the finish a bit watery. Flavors are competent rendered and more or less to style, but overall not so impressive from the new kid in town.

Tap at brewery. Brown with a reddish hue, little to no head. Light roast, coffee, a bit of lactic sourness and metal. Lightly roasty, sort of reminds me of the bitter with a tiny bit more roast. Pretty meh.

Draft at brewery. Light tan head on a black, partially translucent brew. Solid aroma of charcoal and dark chocolate. It has a sweet base flavor and a roasty finish. The mouthfeel was quite smooth and soft. I would have guessed this was a sweet stout, not a porter, but either way, it’s a well made brew.
