COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American Brown Ale with caramel like and chocolate like characters with a slight nut presence. Very low hop character but enough to combine with the malt and carbonation to provide a pleasant mouth feel. Finishes very clean with no aftertaste.

On tap at the O’so tap house. Pours a clear amber brown with a light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a nice nuttiness that is backed by a bread note and a bit of sweet grains. Flavor has a really nice nuttiness with a bit of backing grain and bread.

On tap at Bull Falls. Poured clear honeyed amber with a sticky off-white head. The aroma picked up soured, metallic bready notes and a touch of nutty character.. more metallic as it warmed up.. not good. The flavor was only slightly better.. sweet nutty and caramel notes at the core with some chocolate toward the back.. metallic stuff showed up back there too.. went downhill quickly after the initial taste. Light-medium bodied and oddly sour on the palate.. tacky at other times.. like the Five Star, this seemed off.

On tap at the Bull Falls brewpub. Run of the mill brown ale is clear light brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma of light caramel, light fruit and nuts. Taste is a tad too sweet with caramel, sweet malt and a touch of roasted malt. The finish is a touch off and a tad dry.

Draft at OF. Mild sweet aroma. Thick brown color, minimal head. Medium body. Malty and smooth, with some some sweet nuttiness. Mild soapy aftertaste. Hops are minimal but instill an odd harsh bitterness, somewhat woody. A touch underwhelming. OK.

(growler from Skyview) Pours brown with an off-white head. Aroma is dry with some cocoa, toasted nut, and a hint of roasted coffee. The taste was quite good with some light chocolate, toasted nut, and just a little bit of cherry hard candy near the finish. The rest of the finish is dry, and the mouthfeel is medium. A really good brown ale.

Another growler from Skyview. For a style of beer that has only so much potential, Bull Falls has taken it about as far as it can go. Cloudy brown appearance. Malt aroma, and a rich malt flavor with some nuts. There is some aftertaste of bread. This is about as good as a brown ale can get.

Thanks to Skyview for the growler. Dark copper color with a thin head. A large chalky and chocolate aroma and flavor. Finishes with a nearly bone dry malt taste. Very solid and delicious.

Poured from a growler. Mahogany in color and fairly transparent. Chocolate candy, licorice and cinnamon aroma; very sweet, though tempered by hints of peat smoke and grassy hops. Tastes fairly dense and generous with plenty of chewy caramel malt, red apple, chocolate malt and nougat sweetness; slight suggestions of dried wood, oily hazelnut and bonfire. Good structure and presentation. Palate is rounded, smooth, and mildly empty toward the finish; raspberry bitterness and some acidity at that point. Well made rendition; enjoyable. Thanks for sharing, Bob!

[Growler, thanks Skyview!] Pours clear brown with an off-white head. Aroma is quite potent--really nutty and toasted with a decent amount of sweetness. Taste is very similar to the aroma, only maybe a little less pronounced and with some caramel malt in there--also very good. Medium mouthfeel. A very nice brown ale.

On draught at the brewery’s taproom in Wausau, Wisconsin. Pours a clear copper amber brew with a fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a thin white ring. Aroma of lightly roasted caramel malt, some toffee, and roasted nuts. Taste is medium bodied, some carbonation with a semi-sweet caramel flavor that even has some roasted pecan and peanut character. Finish is semi-sweet with an excellent balance of fruity caramel and bitterness. This is one of the first nut brown ales I’ve tried that even compliments the salted peanuts served at the brewery’s taproom.
