COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
DIRIGO (Latin: "I direct" or "I lead") is the motto of the great State of Maine. It is symbolized by the Polar Star which has guided explorers, travelers and dreamers since the beginning of time.

A special blend of Vienna, Carmel and Munich malt give DIRIGO Crimson Lager its deep red color and medium body. Flavors of toasted grain, and sweet malt are balanced by the gentle citrus bitters of traditional hops. Our bottom fermenting yeast and weeks of patience contribute a smooth lager finish that pairs well with spicy foods, hearty stews and sausages.

I know this company doesn’t exist anymore but considering I did have it when they were in business, here goes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a slight hazy orange color with a gentle one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. There was some light lacing sticking around the glass. The smell had some light German malts in a somewhat roasted caramel like fashion. The taste was mainly sweet but delicately hopped. The palate had some sessionable qualities with a light carbonation. Overall, decent Oktoberfest beer to say the least.

Crimson in color, just like it says. Citrus flavor with hops and malt. Head doesn’t hold long. Sour aftertaste. Tastes sweet on the palate but just the opposite on the aftertaste. Not something I would likely drink again.

Clear, bright ruby amber; good rim head around a light cover, dots of lace. Hard-edged malt moves smoothly through the palate, adding dark fruit to a sour and bitter finish. Good for sipping, good with Havarti and baguette.

The beer pours - as advertised - absolutely crimson. The taste of this beer is primarily malty, with some biscuty notes. There is also a solid hop overtone, that shows up at the beginning of each sip. On the whole, it is one of the most drinkable beers I’ve had in years. It isn’t so heavy that it makes you pace yourself, but yet isn’t thin enough for you to forget about it between sips. The Caramel and Munich malts are just right, and the little notes of hops that come through on the aroma are just right to keep it interesting from the first pour to the very last.

Pours a hazy amber with ruby hues...a super thin tan head. Aroma has some tea notes and light maltiness...yam n.tes. Flavor follows suit...balanced...some dry leaves and earthy hops. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is more earthy/bitter than malty/leafy.
