COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ales are characterised by intense hop bitterness and high alcohol content. This copper-coloured ale has a full, flowery hop aroma and a strong hop flavour with a hint of grapefruit, in addition to hop bitterness.

Draught @ brewery, Bruthen , Victoria Deep golden beer, holds a small head. Subdued aroma, bit of grassy/resiny hop, some toasty malt. Medium full body, ok carbonation, somewhat drying. Toasty, light caramel malts on the body, some citrusy hops & a touch of grass. Bitterness a slight bit astringent. Bit disappointing.

640 ML bottle Dark amber color, massive light tan head, 4 fingers. Falls to 2 fingers. Thick lacing and decent retention. Nose is pretty neutral. Some toffee, some grapefruit and grass. Taste is mostly the malt. Lots of toffee and toast notes. Hops show up in the back. Lots of astringency. Lots of grass and some grapefruit. Very dry beer but massive overly carbonated beer. Not that great really

amber, bit hazy, thin froth on top. Nose is slightly woody, earthy, touch of fruity hop. Not the most well-developed beer, but a simple pale.

On tap at the Brewpub. Served a hazy dark amber color with a nice head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of citrus, bit of caramel sweetness and a bit of grain. Taste of citrus, with some malt sweetness and bit of grain and spice in the background. Nice bitterness and a fairly clean finish. medium body, nice crispness and decent balance. Enjoyable beer, nice take on the style.

UPDATED: JUN 1, 2013 Bottle from the local IGA. Nice IPA. Aromas of caramel and grass, with hints of spice. Taste starts sweet, with bitter notes, and average length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a big frothy head.

Bottle, 11C. Clear amber with a large off-white head. High bead. Floral aroma with light citrus, caramel and pears. A little fruit and caramel but dry bitter finish rushes straight in. Bitter finish, some astringency from excessive carbonation. Peppery and floral notes linger. Still a bit light on the malt side for me even after it gasses out a fair bit, but the carbonation really got in the way with this one.

640mL bottle, pours cloudy amber with a massive crown atop and far to much streaming carbonation. Aroma of slight citrus/perfume . Its like wizz fizz in the mouth way over carbonated which make it hard to pick up all the flavours. Disapointing..

Pours dark amber with a large, growing head. Nose shows some fruity and floral notes along with faint grassy hints. Pretty restrained. Some spicy phenols too interestingly enough. Something almost cinnamon-like to it. Similar flavours; restrained spicy, earthy hops, soft caramel, little else. Distinctive English-style bitterness in the finish, seemingly no pine or resin. Could use a slightly richer body.

The ’base beer’ is a little weak (refer my notes on the PA) but to be fair this is a pretty decent new world style. Plenty of caramel and toffee in plenty of balance. I didn’t pick up much by way of bitterness and hops but didn’t impact on the enjoyment factor at all.
