COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bulldog is an award winning strong ale that was first brewed for the export market in 1947. The traditional recipe and maturing process of "warm conditioning" which takes place after fermentation, has been deliberately retained to preserve the strength and quality. The beer is dry hopped and the distinctive mellow flavour of Bulldog Strong Ale allowed to develop slowly.

Bottle, 330ml pasteurised from B&M, Southport. Amber with white head. A sweetish, malty aroma leads to quite a harsh, sharp alcoholic type flavour, no messing around, boiled and brutal on the palate. Some sweetness in the finish. Not particularly good.

Bottle. Pours amber with almost no head. Pure apricot marmalade on the nose. Flavour is wheat bread and apricot jam. Medium bodied. Rough finish. One dimensional - liken it to an apricot wheat beer - strange.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Rotem’s place. Thanks zvikar. Clear dark amber, frothy white head. Sugar, molasses aroma, bland bitterness. Watery light body, a little oily texture.

33 cl bottle. Clear light amber with one finger creamy offwhite head. Flowery nose. Good amount of sweet malts and lots of peppery hops. Unbalanced, starts sweet and sticky and finish into a massive bitterness, but the finish is long. Noticeable alcohol and syrup. Thick and oily, heavy.

Holy christ - this is Peroni Gran Reserva under a different name. I’m not joking, I’ve got both side by side and I can’t tell the difference. Conclusion - Heller bock from SABMiller = English Strong Ale from Heineken => Neither of them are what they claim to be, they’re just mass-produced muck.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Rotem’s place. Thanks zvikar. Clear deep golden-amber. Aroma of a bit of malt, a bit of acetone and a bit of caramel. Flavor has a bit of malt sweetness and bitterness, slightly earthy with something weird and a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied.

A Mes rate: 33cl bottle at the Magic_dave6 shindig at Chris O’s.
Sim picked this one up on the last visit to Italy and we took it to Chris’s for the last tating. It never got drunk so it was still there when we went for Tom’s tasting. Thankfully I had people (drunk people) to share this with so I didn’t have to drink this to myself. Golden brown with a thin white head. Sour aroma with vegetables and a smell that I can only liken to household rubbish that is waiting to be taken out. Yum. Flavour is not quite so offensive but still far from good. Very malty, slight whiskey notes and more vegetation with the expected card and corn. Amazed at the reasonable rates this gets. I thought it was plain awful.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear amber with a small, white head. Aroma of alcohol. Solid but deeply crude and unrefined only containing alcohol. Unpleasant, bitter finish. 221005

Eructoblaster (2122) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 29, 2010
Bottle - 330ml. Dark gold body with a decent white creamy head. Aroma is dominated by bad sweet/flowery and melon hints. Taste carries horrible chemical notes. Ends with a harsh oversweetened and chemical finish. Drainpour.
