3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 thewolf (8625) - Kolding, DENMARK - DEC 31, 2008
Bottle at Madsberg tasting 2008. Pours muddy red-brown with a small, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is sour, lightly grainy. Raisins, plums. Medium carbonation, a bit weak mouthfeel. Flavour is tart, good dried raisins, some red currants, caramel. Quite vinious, which detracts a bit for me. So slightly out of balance, but still a rather good sour.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 hopscotch (7526) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - APR 6, 2009
Bottle… C&P’sLYFO Throwdown… Cloudy caramel-colored ale with no real head. The aroma consists of caramel sweetness, sour apple and lactic acid. Full-bodied and creamy with modest carbonation. The flavor is moderately bitter, but this brew’s funkiness, fruitiness and acidity outshine all else. Finishes sour, minerally, and then dry. The vinous, acidic, fruity notes acquired from the Cabernet barrel and wild yeast really transform what was once a saison into a very nice Flanders red! Big thanks to Beerlando for sharing the bottle!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 hopdog (7043) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 3, 2009
750ml bottle (thanks Tom!). I’ve had this before and glad I waited to rate it until I had time to really give it some justice. Poured a deeper and cloudy amber (almost brown) color with an averaged sized off white head. Lots of big floaters at the bottom of the bottle. Aromas were very and nicely vinous (Cabernet), grapes, woody, a little funky, and light honey.Tastes of the same vinousness, funky, woody, vanilla, cherries, earthy, and grapes. I was really into the Cabernet barrel aging. Lively body with a dry finish. I wish I bought a lot more of these when I had the chance!
