COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lush and fruity, this "super saison" has been totally overhauled from the last two years. Previously, this beer has been lighter in color and ABV, but an increase in buckwheat honey has pushed the color into the dark amber range, providing a rich, layered complexity. The first sip leaves your mouth with a kiss of sweetness in an otherwise dry strong ale. 2006 version was Belgian Strong Ale and at 9%+ abv.

2008 version back to 7% abv, more in the traditional saison style - hazy golden in color.

Pours cloudy yellow with a big frothy brown head. The nose of yeast, honeycomb, and a smidgen of funk. Flavors were light, hay-like, and a bit bretty with funk. Some solvent notes seemed to sneak in as well. Nicely crafted somewhat funky saison.

Bottled. An incredible saison from our most recent American masters. These guys just nail every single beer. Great head. Wonderful, fresh dough nose, carbonic acid, orange. Has a thick, creamy mouthfeel, minerals, a touch salty, rough, green tomato. Mmmm. I want more of this.

Bottle shared by someone at 4th Ave Pub. Pale golden pour with a thick white head The nose is a bit chewy. Rich, sweet chewy malts, a bit of rich spiciness. There is a little bit of rye and a bit of peach as well. Apricot and pear along with a bit of chewy sweetness. There is a nice complexity throughout that helps combat the sweetness, although I’d still prefer this dryer. A little bit of soft tartness. Tasty brew.

Pours a golden yellow with a big white head and amazing head retention. Nose is dominated by honey and yeast. Taste is a little too much honey, lots of floral, nice hint of brett funk finishes.

750ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a frothy off white head, spotty lacing. Nose of banana, clove and citrus peel. Some bubble gum, yeast, slightly funky, and citrusy on the palate. Finish starts sweet then finishes medium dry.

Got to sample a bottle of this thanks to "hannont". Colour... lightly cloudy straw colour. Nose... slightly sour and yeasty. Palate... slightly sour with some spice but not a whole lot of flavour complextity. Where’s the honey?

Brewed in the USA... Apricot in color with a wonderful large off white head that will dissipate in time. Aroma of baby funk, yeast, lemons and pepper. Taste of bread, mild pepper, cereal and pears. Mouthfeel is medium in body with a spritizy beginning, and finishes with a very lite alcohol bite. Not bad, but not quite what i expected.

750ml bottle shared by BeerGestapo. Thanks Mike. Bottled on 8/7/08. Pours a hazy peach color with a big lasting meringue-like head. The smell is tart with notes of peach, apricot, lemon, pepper, and light funk. It tasted good but very bizarre, like someone made a grape jelly and fruity pebble sandwich. Carbonation and mouthfeel were right on for the style though it was a bit of a sharp alcohol bite. Would definitely drink again though.
