4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hopdog (7652) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 19, 2010
On tap at Capone’s. Poured a deeper brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of coffee, roasty, and some chocolate. Tastes of roast, coffee, cream, and vanilla. I like coffee in my coffee beers...
4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Damico (1915) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 18, 2010
Roasted malts and subtle coffee notes are in the aroma. The rich, dark black appearance has a cocoa, creamy head on top which slides beautifully down the side of the glass. The flavor of coffee and smoky notes iare apparent immediately as it falls on the tongue - Good Morning! It settles a bit with the flavor of sweet roasted malts.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 pilgrimoutlaw (488) - Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 18, 2010
On tap at Capone’s. The espresso flavor dominates the aroma, in a pleasant way. The body on this one was moderately thick. Probably the best espresso stout I’ve tried.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - APR 18, 2010
Hand Bottle. Pours a nice deep dark brown with a frothy beige head- some lace. Aroma is very big nutty roasty malts, with tons of fresh sharp coffee- mixing with the cocoa hints and roast it creates a very distinct and strong peppery chili note as well- chipotle and ancho craziness. Flavor is a bit thin and weaker than the aroma indicates- coffee is sharp a bit harsh with some chili peppers, nice roast and dark chocolate moderately sweet and a mild finish. Pretty good,

Troegs Java Head’s got nothing on the Bullfrog’s Double Coffee Stout. I find myself making excuses to visit Williamsport, just for a pint of this stuff.

Pours a dark brown showing some light and a one finger tan head. Nose shows coffee and bitter chocolate roast, creamy character, earthy malt, coffee smells cold extracted. 3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 JCB (3798) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 13, 2010
Second time around with this delicious beer, perfect for a chilly morning at Sexy Choc. Thick oily pour, with what could almost pass for oils from the bean seeming to float around. Nice creamy head. Very full aroma, abundant choc malts and roasted grains but a nice clean coffee aroma, nothing artificial just a pure cold extracted delight. Perhaps slightly too slick in the palate, but that’s a mild knock because it’s very scrumptious. Compares favorably with Bells Java.

Sampled while waiting in line for Sexual Chocolate release. Pours dark brown with light around the edges and smallish head. Wow, this is tasty. Espresso notes, roast, some chocolate. Not much else to say but this is a fine coffee stout. Slightly thin palate. Yum.
