COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As the story goes, I was redesigning our IPA to be bigger and better. As it came together, it started to take on a life of its own. After much deliberation and several pints of our new creation, we decided to name him after the master of the macabre, Edgar Allen Poe, as a tribute to his aptly named short story "Hop Frog". As Edgar fermented and spewed his almost abusive hop aroma throughout the pub, his legend and our thirst grew until finally one day, he was released into the world. We hope Edgar amuses you as much as he has us but stay on his good side, because, much like the story, this Hop Frog bites back!

Lightly hazy golden with a decent white head fades quickly nice lacing... nice grapefruity aroma, ... big citrus flavor, not very bitter, not very carbonated, dry finish, lingers w some light pine and citrus...

A: Orange amber body with a massive, creamy head. Lasts for a few minutes before dieing down to a nice skim. Good amount of lacing clings to the edges of the glass. S: The first word that came to my mind was "fresh." The nose was a very clean, bright, and invigorating combination of grapefruit, pineapple and other citrus notes. Some toffee like malts form a nice canvas for the bright bitter notes to pop like paint on a Jackson Pollock painting. T: Much of the same here. To steal a line or two from Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels... "I asked you to give me a refreshing drink. I wasn’t expecting a fucking rainforest! You could fall in love with an orangutan in that!" ... Very nice tropical fruit flavoring with a nice bitter edge. M: Medium bodied with healthy carbonation and a nice oily and refreshing finish. O: Top notch, my favorite regular Bullfrog offering to date.

Piney piney piney. An overhopped piney ipa. Not offensive at all, I just prefer floral or citrus hops. Decent though.

Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity fresh hoppy grapefruit aroma. Fruity malty hoppy bitter grapefruit flavor. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter grapefruit finish.

Pine, grapefruit & caramel in he nose - pretty sweet. Flavor is melon, tropical fruit & piney hops with a serious sweet malt hit. Big bitterness.

8/29/2009 Picked this up at the brewpub on a recent trip with the family. I was bummed I could not to try it on tap. Pours an almost clear orange amber with a good sized fluffy white head that sticks around for a while. Earthy citrus hops dominate the aroma while the caramel that is deep beneath tries to find a voice. Slight mineral almost phenolic aroma puts me off a little. Taste is a slightly astringent citrus grass and earth hoppy kinda thing with wisps of sweet malt buried beneath. Mouthfeel is sticky, body is medium, carbonation is ample. Not a bad ipa, the slight astringency turned this one for me.

The first beer from Bullfrog I’ve really liked. I’ll be tasting this one for hours. Lots of pine on the nose. Nice grapefruit notes on the tongue. Finish is subdued which increases drinkability.

A really aeromatic IPA with strong flavors, hints of fruit (but only overly fruity, I don’t like fruit beers). Good taste and goes down clean.

5oz sample from a flight. Pour is cloudy gold with a finger of white, slowly dissipating head, which left a bit of lacing as well. Nose is an explosion of flowers and citrus, which is followed by a sweet orange fragrance; there is also light malt in the background. Taste is big hops up front, which is followed by the orange/floral punch that lingers long into the finish. This is a very solid DIPA, one that is easily worth purchasing a case of.
