As the story goes, I was redesigning our IPA to be bigger and better. As it came together, it started to take on a life of its own. After much deliberation and several pints of our new creation, we decided to name him after the master of the macabre, Edgar Allen Poe, as a tribute to his aptly named short story "Hop Frog". As Edgar fermented and spewed his almost abusive hop aroma throughout the pub, his legend and our thirst grew until finally one day, he was released into the world. We hope Edgar amuses you as much as he has us but stay on his good side, because, much like the story, this Hop Frog bites back!

Tasted at Bullfrog (Wlliamsport, PA) with ML. On tap. Pours cloudy gold with pale white head. Aroma is classic IPA hops, citrus, and pine, with notes of grass, but with sweet malts as well. Flavour is a well polished balance of pleasantly bold hops and malts. Fine IPA. A perfect way to start the day :).

This one poured a darker straw yellow, almost orangw with a white head. Aroam was of fresh cut fruit, grapefruit, and some grass. Flavor was similar, fruity, light floral notes, not malt getting in the way. Pretty solid.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2016 Draft at Bru Craft. Murky yellow/orange pour with just a slight bit of foam on top. A very juicy IPA! Big citrus hop resins. Clementines. Pineapple cores. Grapefruit pith. Peaches. Watercress. Celery hearts. Green peppercorns. Light malty sweetness up front. Complex hop bite in the finish. Very refreshing. Well done.

Very nice beer. Pours a light amber with a thin head, The aroma has a good bit of fruit and citrus. The flavor is sweet up front but gives way to a nice hop bite. Dry and refreshing.

Draft at craft ale house. Pours hazy orange with a medium sized white head. The aroma is not the strongest but has some floral notes and light citrus. The taste has a good bit of grapefruit, a bit of orange zest, and a nice bitter kick. Very nice local.

On tap at Pinocchio’s, Media. Very nice to see this on tap. Bullfrog’s no longer the "it" beer, since the hype machine has turned elsewhere, but their offerings are still super good. Luminous orange pour, with a sizable head. Bright and fresh looking. Nose is very dry, with bitter grapefruit and some peach in there too. Full, buoyant mouthfeel with just a touch of bitterness on the tongue. Taste is quite grassy and pungent, though the fruits are still in there quite pleasantly. Pretty damn good.

On tap at Pinocchio’s. Light golden pour...smallish head. Aroma of tropical fruit. This one is citrus hops...not much else. Thin in the mouth. It was okay...but a bit disappointing.
