As the story goes, I was redesigning our IPA to be bigger and better. As it came together, it started to take on a life of its own. After much deliberation and several pints of our new creation, we decided to name him after the master of the macabre, Edgar Allen Poe, as a tribute to his aptly named short story "Hop Frog". As Edgar fermented and spewed his almost abusive hop aroma throughout the pub, his legend and our thirst grew until finally one day, he was released into the world. We hope Edgar amuses you as much as he has us but stay on his good side, because, much like the story, this Hop Frog bites back!

On tap at Blue Dog in Chalfont, PA. Expected a pretty average IPA, but this was a tasty blend of hops with just enough bite going down. Pretty impressive brew.

Pours light hazy golden with an orange hue. Aroma brings some sweet and lightly juicy citrus lemon notes, so clean. Flavor brings a hop citrus bitter bite, so nice, that settles so well on the palate, definitely a smooth bite. Body is juicy and just a tad syrupy.

Floral nose from the hops is upfront and present the whole way through. This was a very good 2XIPA.

Draft at Capone’s. Pours a hazy yellow with very little head. Aroma is slightly dank citrus hops. Taste is pretty dry, which allows the hop flavor to dominate the feel. Not overly bitter and slightly prickly in its flavor. Not over the top and very drinkable.

[4664-20120817] Tap. Sweat and fresh pine resin and lemon evergreen needle hops aroma. Hazy, light brown orange with a quick foamy white head. Lemon zesty evergreen hops flavour is bitter with a great citrusy background. Medium body. Delicious. (7/3/8/4/16) 3.8

Lots of citrus and pine resin in the nose, floral and aromatic. Light golden pour, white head with decent retention and lacing. Flavor is nicely balanced, fairly hop-forward with some toasty malt and a hint of sweetness. Grapefruit, some tropical fruit, pine, moderate-high bitterness with a nice hoppy finish, alcohol is noticeable but unoffensive. Medium body and carbonation. A very nice IPA.

Fresh growler courtesy of Frank. Pours a bright, hazy orange body with nice white lacing that lasts throughout. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, light funk and tropical fruits. Mouthfeel is medium, super sessionable and refreshing with notes of bitter grapefruit, lemon, pine, light dank herb, light floral flavors, and a dry finish. Super Fresh.

Growler courtesy of Frank. This was a fresh hop Edgar made with Citra. Hazy somewhat glowing orange copper pour, medium white head and lacing. Notes of skunk, wood, pine, grapefruit, light melon, tropical zest, and some more bitter and dry lemon wood flavors in the finish. Kept going back for this and the amarillo hopgasm during the sess. Dankness.

Fresh Growler pour compliments of Evan, Pours a cloudy orange with small to medium white head. Aromas of grapefruit citrus, english malts, and maybe some pineapple. Taste has some nice fresh, bitter hoppiness. Notes of caramel, oranges, grains, and melon. Well executed.
