COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As the story goes, I was redesigning our IPA to be bigger and better. As it came together, it started to take on a life of its own. After much deliberation and several pints of our new creation, we decided to name him after the master of the macabre, Edgar Allen Poe, as a tribute to his aptly named short story "Hop Frog". As Edgar fermented and spewed his almost abusive hop aroma throughout the pub, his legend and our thirst grew until finally one day, he was released into the world. We hope Edgar amuses you as much as he has us but stay on his good side, because, much like the story, this Hop Frog bites back!

On tap @ bullfrog, cool place. Orange with nice head and lacing. Great hops aroma and taste, citrusy and piney. You donít really taste the 8% alcohol, well balnaced, nicely hopped. terrific ipa.

A really aeromatic IPA with strong flavors, hints of fruit (but only overly fruity, I donít like fruit beers). Good taste and goes down clean.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2006 This beer kicks ass and so does Bullfrog. This has an intense aroma of pine, citrus, floral, spicy, and mango pungent hops. Flavor is also dominated by a big bold hop presence but is backed by a nice deep amber caramel malt backbone. This one reminded me a lot of dreadnaught, but somehow more drinkable.

Tangy ozone rubbery grapefruit, hop oil and citrus, melon and oak. Tangerine and apricots. Hoppy, hoppy, hoppy. Piney and resinous - my wife says it tastes like Christmas. Smooth and wonderful aroma. Dark amber-orange clear with mild haze. Thin off-white lacing head. Starts big and fruity, with grapefruit bitter and tangerine oily sweetness. Great balance of malty sweetness and huge fruity hop flavor. Light acidity with big bittering finish. Bitterness is big, but not harsh. Hints of oak and mild malt smooth out this big beer. Touch of alcohol and warming. After is bitter and dry with fruity ozone notes. Gives a very hoppy belch. Very nice IIPA - in fact, the only IPA/IIPA out of all the ones Iíve rated that my wife actually enjoyed; itís that smooth.

Growler courtesy of Frank. This was a fresh hop Edgar made with Citra. Hazy somewhat glowing orange copper pour, medium white head and lacing. Notes of skunk, wood, pine, grapefruit, light melon, tropical zest, and some more bitter and dry lemon wood flavors in the finish. Kept going back for this and the amarillo hopgasm during the sess. Dankness.

Fresh Growler pour compliments of Evan, Pours a cloudy orange with small to medium white head. Aromas of grapefruit citrus, english malts, and maybe some pineapple. Taste has some nice fresh, bitter hoppiness. Notes of caramel, oranges, grains, and melon. Well executed.

Sampled at the Metro Detroit October í09 tasting thanks to FlandersNed. Bright orange-gold pour with a loose white head. The aroma is sweet concentrated honey and grapefruit. The flavor is more deliciously sweet, but not cloying, grapefruit and honey with a lingering floral bitterness on the finish. Sticky medium full body.

Fresh growler courtesy of Frank. Pours a bright, hazy orange body with nice white lacing that lasts throughout. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, light funk and tropical fruits. Mouthfeel is medium, super sessionable and refreshing with notes of bitter grapefruit, lemon, pine, light dank herb, light floral flavors, and a dry finish. Super Fresh.

Excellent IPA, light amber in color, ample off-white head with nice lacing, big hoppy nose with notes of pine & fruit, medium in body which makes this very drinkable & palateable, could have sat there all day & drank this, big hoppy flavor with a good mix of malt for balance, flavors of grapefruit, pine & caramel, more hops & fruitiness in the finish

greta IPA. Hops overload. Nice cloudy orange hue. Thick beer and has a bite, to say the least. Flavor is not balanced well but if itís hops your looking for. This is it.
