Commercial Description:
As the story goes, I was redesigning our IPA to be bigger and better. As it came together, it started to take on a life of its own. After much deliberation and several pints of our new creation, we decided to name him after the master of the macabre, Edgar Allen Poe, as a tribute to his aptly named short story "Hop Frog". As Edgar fermented and spewed his almost abusive hop aroma throughout the pub, his legend and our thirst grew until finally one day, he was released into the world. We hope Edgar amuses you as much as he has us but stay on his good side, because, much like the story, this Hop Frog bites back!

From growler - medium orangeish color - off white head. Big hop aroma, citrus, grapefruit, fresh cut grass, wood, and other fruits. Bold hop flavor that exploded on the tongue. Body was slightly resiny, but smooth . Clean, dry finish.

Nice hoppy aroma some pine and citrus. pours amber with nice head. nicely balanced and not as dry as some, but not confused and cloyingly sweet. The maltiness in this one doesn’t deminish the hops. I still think I prefer the ultra dry and hoppy double ipa, but this was a good take on a maltly one, a more east coast styled version. medium bodied. grapefrult and pine in the flavor as well as some biscuit. nice ipa.

Cask draft at brewpub. Hazy, orange-copper with a small but lasting head. Aroma is grapefruit, resin and slight molasses. Flavor is earthy resin, some citrus and molasses. Medium body is smoothish, with just enough hop roughness and drying. Pretty nicely balanced.

Draft sample at Pints for Pets. Hazy dark gold with slight orange, little head, rimming and white. Nose is huge grapefruit. Lots of hop flavor. Grapefruit. A moderate bready background and moderate bitterness. Dry and resiny finish. DIPA heaven , but not crazy progressive. Good beer.
